The calibration file GB5T-14G374-CA (and CD) needed for APIM rescue are no longer available as .vbf files. I have Forscan and wish to do the rescue but the files are not all available for 'G ’ NA with NAV rescue

Flashing firmware has nothing to do with Sync 3.4 as it’s not part of the firmware.
What else was done to the car?
Looking at what you’ve posted it looks like your problem was caused by a USB formatted as FAT32 instead of exFAT.

OK Thank you. That is quite possible regarding the USB format. I just followed the instructions to upgrade my Sync to the latest 3.4 version. The question now is how can I recover my mistake. Can you help please?

Nothing else was done to the car

  • What’s the APIM model? (you can see that through forscan)
  • Did the unit reboot once you inserted the USB?
  • Is the unit operational? (background radio, backlight, powered USB ports, reverse camera feedback)

APIM number: BG5T-14G371-BFC

The unit cleared down the old version and rebooted and then after approx 5 mins went to black screen.

Nothing is operational incl USB hub. I do have rear parking sensors but I believe that these are not controlled via APIM.

Get a pic of the sticker on the back of the APIM. Is this a retrofit?

It is a retrofit (Chinese upgrade unit to replace old Sync 2 unit). No point looking at rear label as the Chinese units use fake labels.
