Hi Everyone,

Firstly, thank you for providing this tool to update to version 3.4. The process was really quick and easy.

I’ve updated to the latest version (3.4.23188) and it’s all working fine, but the auto brightness is really bugging me - I don’t mean the night / day setting, it’s the way the screen is automatically adjusting the brightness depending on the light. I can see it out of the corner of my eye while driving.

I can’t find the setting anymore to turn it off, so guessing it’s been deprecated in this version.

Is there a lower version that has this setting, and if so, can I re-install / downgrade to it?

What’s the model and year of the vehicle?
Some like the Escape and Focus that originally came with Sync 3.0.x are prone to screen flickering for those it wasn’t as bad if downgraded to 3.4.21265 or 3.4.21194.

That issue was never solved for Focus and Kuga.
The last build to have that option available is 3.4.19101.

Also, you may want to check with FMODS if they have a mod to enable that setting on later builds. (I can’t recall at the moment).

Yes you can, I would not have said so otherwise :wink:

Since your original version was 3.0, you can do whatever you want with the unit since you can reformat it.

And going back to an earlier 3.4 does not even require a reformat.

This bugged me too, I ended up turning off the “Auto dim” in the dashboard screen, and setting it to a mid brightness that i can see well enough in the day and not too bright in the nights, This also stops the annoying flickering you get.

One more thing - since upgrading ive now got the radio images / logos. Will they still be there in the older 3.4 version?

That’s a good question, I’m not fully sure. I would guess yes, but I’m not 100% certain.

When you create the USB, only leave the apps package selected, so you keep the more current packages for the other things.

Thanks, that’s downloading now - only the Apps package selected for version 3.4.19101.

So I plug the USB into the car and it will just do it’s stuff from there? Any idea on how long it will take to do the downgrade - it took about 50 minutes to do the upgrade originally but that was with maps etc as well.

Just updated, took about 10 minutes to do.

Just a couple of points to note:

I’ve now got the Climate option along the bottom of the screen - it does actually work though so no issue there.

The radio logos / images have gone, so bit disappointed at that as it made the display look so much more modern with them on.

The auto dimming option is now back, so that’s resolved the original query.

The radio station logos may come back after a little time…after they are cached. It is common to loose the logos after an upgrade/downgrade.

Hopefully, but the whole layout has changed so there is currently a Stations button and Traffic button where they used to be.

Will see what happens over the next day or so.

So using the buttons on the steering wheel, it’s in settings and then lighting? I’ll check, but I don’t remember seeing that in there.

You’re looking at the cluster settings, not the APIM settings.
Those are on the APIM screen.

Yeah - so thats back to the original issue that the autodim was missing once I’d upgraded.

I thought there was a setting in another place.
