Hi just some updates, ordered a hub off amazon and amazingly they managed to lose it. I was lucky enough to find one in the junkyard and carplay is working now!
I noticed the NAV (built in) doesn’t speak, I read some of your replies and saw it might have to do with not having the voice files downloaded? Weirdly enough carplay doesn’t speak either, it’ll pause the music when it gives a direction, same with reading out text messages.
I was thinking of updating the firmware but it’s on sync build 17276 which is apparently buggy and I’m understandably nervous about bricking a 2nd apim.
Hey, I tried pausing my music and turning the volume knob both when Waze and siri (reading texts) were “talking” but there was still no sound output.
I saw for the fusions it was an ACM issue but the asbuilts are so different between my 15 ACM and the 18 the apim came from.
Wondering will I need to swap the acm too?
EDIT ignore the above, for anybody doing a sync 1 to 3 upgrade for the older cars like a 15 explorer or Taurus, it seems like the first digit of the ACM has to be changed from D to a 1. I’m surprised nobody else has had this issue as I scoured the Internet, but didn’t really find it for at least those platform cars!
