can not update to 3.4.23188 from 3.4.23088

having trouble updateingnto the latest 3.4.23188.. trying to update to correct an issue i am having that no previous locations are remembered and every time start truck it askes to turn on auto updates and have a voice come on stating language set to engkish. this all started after trying android auto. I created a drive with new files and maps install into truck and turn on and nothing happens. Waited about 5 min, still listing to radio and am able to have full control of the apim, can look at nav and all setting. Pulled the flash drive and message pop up after removed stating usb is not reconized. redid the drive with all files and same thing. Odd thing is that after this I now remembering previous locations and the pop up asking for turn on auto updates no longer comes up.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong, I say its me because I am having the same instasll issue with my wifes truck. on hers I get a pkg err3 code, I am not getting on my truck. My truck is a 13 f250 with a sync 3 out of a 18 f150, has been working fine for 2 years right up to i tried the android auto.

Hello.

Perform a master reset and install the latest Sync3 version. You should get out of your current build since it has a bug.

After upgrading, perform another master reset and see how it behaves.

Finally, your APIM is not listed as MY20, so you can reinstall everything (OS + maps) via reformat (which is faster and cleaner).

I have done that but when I put the usb in it does not do anything, I have 2 vehicles doing this so I am assuming I am doing something wrong. I will go out and do a reset and try again at lunch today.
Is it better to insert the usb before turning on the truck or install after the apim has booted up?
when I did this the first time I went to 3.4 it went smooth as ice but that was last year or maybe longer and was the first version of the installer.

did a master reset and tried to install the latest 3.4. turn key on and nothing happens radio and everything working as normal. About 8 min past and get a message at top of display updating system software. radio still playing and can still go to all menu of the APIM. approx. 5 min later get a message; The usb storage device has been changed or removed. Installation will resume when the device is re-inserted. The usb was NOT removed.
waited about 5 min nothing happening so removed usb and reinserted, immediately got software installing message again at top of screen. about 5 min more and same message about usb removed. The whole time I am listening to the radio. At this point I gave up and shut everything down. I still feel it is something I am doing wrong, but all the instructions I have read and video watched I can not figure what I am doing wrong. One thing I have not tried is a new usb drive I will get one and try that, but I am not optimistic that will afford a different outcome but will try.
Any direction one where to go from here?

Or the USB got hot and stopped responding, or there is another USB in another USB slot in the vehicle?

Might be a good next step.
You did not state what installation you are trying to do, other tha changing to 3.4.23188. Are you using an autoinstall and what files are you trying to load?
