I have a 2014 F-150 Limited that came stock with SYNC 2 with nav and the Sony sound system + sub. I upgraded the hardware to SYNC 3, which went fine. I used the SYN3 updater to upgrade it from v1.0 to the latest v3.5 and latest nav, and got everything working except for when I go into sound settings, if I adjust the sliders for treble/mid/bass or balance/fader, they slide, and then immediately pop back to the original middle position when I release the slider. Adjusting the speed adaptive volume also reverts back to off after I change it. What do I need to do to fix this?
SYNC Region: NA
Navigation Variant: Nav
Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20
Install Type: Retrofit
Old SYNC Version: 1.0.15139
New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
N/A
First question, where did the APIM custom config come from?
You can’t just drop a Sync3 APIM into a vehicle that came with Sync2 even if it came from the same model, and you can’t use the factory config for your vehicle as it is for an entirely different module/OS.
Well that’s very interesting…. I did just drop it in, and everything worked. I bought the APIM and screen as a used bundle off eBay. It said it was from a 2016 Ford Taurus. I bought the USB ports separately, but also used from eBay, along with a new USB adapter cable. I then just swapped the mounting brackets and installed the new used parts. The only thing I had to do was re-enable my power running boards, otherwise everything worked perfectly. That was with v1.0.15139. I then used SYN3 updater software to create a USB upgrade stick, and again, everything worked, except I had to go into Forscan to turn back on my cooled seats, and now I have this weird glitch with the audio settings…
How do I know what I need to change in Forscan? Is there a way to get this APIM custom config made? Or do I have to go through my as-built line-by-line and figure out what each item is and if it needs to be changed? It has been randomly giving me a “navigation fault” when I start the truck, but the navigation still seems to work after that. I goobered this up more than I realized! Thanks for taking the time to help me, @warlock12118 ! I really appreciate it!!
