Confirming Update Ability on Used APIM

My 2015 F150 was upgraded to Sync 3 via an ebay kit several years back. The interrogator file would not show my APIM model number so I got cautious about a potential MY20 lock. The diagnostic screen shows an assembly part number of HP5T-14G371-CCA. Given the APIM is not original to the vehicle, is there any concern I should have before trying to update? I was really just looking for maps but I see a new version is out recently so may do both at one time. For some reason i vaguely recall instructions with the retrofit on future updates, but it may have just been that it had the latest Sync and maps at that time.

When you buy those kits you never really know what your getting. The H series APIM’s are the oldest ones so odd’s are it is fine but if it is hacked like alot of them are you could have problems. Running the interrogator creator is the best way to determine what you have and if you are good.

Right, which is why I focused on the interrogator first. But what should I make of the fact that the interrogator can’t find any details?

Do you yhave Forscan?

I do. I tried using it to find the APIM model but was unsuccessful - perhaps not looking in the right place.

Its in there. Just cant remember exactly where. I can see it in my head though so that is good! LOL.
