First time user.. Can I select Map Version 2.25 (2025) - NA if I have a 2016 F150 with factory navigation?

Hello, I have a 2016 F150 with factory navigation.. curent Navigation Maps Version is NA 1 14. Can I upgrade to the 2.25 version using the update tool? I am confused by the ESN Locked (Pre MY20 only as requires reformat) Since I have MY16 am I good to use that version? Or do I have to pay ford for the upgrade so its tied to my ESN then I can upgrade? I honestly dont really use my nav, alway carplay or AA, but I would like the most up to day software possible. Which map version should I pick? I havent actually updated yet so any advice on that is great too.

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.0.19205

New SYNC Version: 3.4.26057

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No error yet

Update Method: CyanLabs Syn3 Updater

Syn3 Updater Version: 2.14.2.0

Syn3 Updater Documentation Read: yes

Syn3 Updater Log File

Havent acutally updated yet

Yes you can.

Going to 3.4 requires a reformat which wipes out the existing maps, the load then just copies in files so it doesn’t require the ESN license key that the install does.

Keep in mind that with a 2016 you’re going to need to replace the G series USB media hub with an H series after you go to 3.4

Ok thanks for the info! Is the H series the usb hub that allows android auto and carplay? If so the previous owner did that as I am able to used wired carplay/AA now. Or are you talking about something different? If so can you link what I need to buy?

The H series allows AA & CP, if those worked you more than likely have an H series installed

Sweet thanks a lot. I started building the USB with 2020 maps just to be safe, but canceled the build and am redoing with the 2025 maps instead.

Correct, just select the NA2025 maps.

Make sure you use a good quality USB, have nothing plugged into any other USB port and let it run.

Depending on the USB it should take 25-45 minutes, personally I take the car for a drive while its running since you don’t want the idle shutdown turning things off and if you just turn the ignition on without starting the engine you need a battery charger that puts out around 15-20A not a battery maintainer.

Thats a great tip, thanks. So just initiate the update, then actually turn the truck on and drive around until it finishes? I am glad you said something. I was going to start the update and run to the store since it takes so long.

exactly, once it finishes and 3.4 comes up run a master reset and you’ll be good to go

Cool thank you!

I got it installed without issue! Should I leave Sync Diagnostics and Sync Automatic Updates off?

Turn them off.

Auto update will not work on a 3.0 vehicle that is now on 3.4 since Ford doesn’t support this type of mod.
