3.4.21098

Do you have Navigation?
No

Have you read the documentation at Syn3 Updater - CyanLabs ?
Yes

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
Not anymore since I was able to update to 3.4, but previous to that I was having problems with the Gracenotes package.

Please describe in detail your issue below

It’s pretty simple. I have a Ford Ka SEL 2019, and the only way I was able to update from 3.0 to 3.4 was to disable the Gracenotes package. I’d already prepared my USB when I found the solution, so I just removed the Gracenotes line from reformat.lst. Apparently this is due to my APIM having a smaller capacity than traditional ones. After that, install went trough.

My question is: am I able to install Gracenotes separatedly? Or if it didn’t install during the reformat from 3.0 to 3.4, then it won’t work at all? I guess that if storage is limited, then I won’t be able to do it.
Should I just try this? Tutorial: No Gracenotes After Sync 3.4 Installation. Manual Installation Instructions

I also read here (posted by CyanLabs) that it is possible to install a “smaller voice pack” and that by doing that, Gracenotes would fit in my storage. How can I do that? How is this “smaller voice pack” done? What does it miss?

Thanks a lot and sorry if I’m breaking any rules.
This is my first post :slight_smile:

First thing, run the APIM Interrogator Tool and post the results for the storage. This will determine if you have sufficient storage to install Gracenotes directly or by manipulating the voice file.

Installing a smaller voice package is replacing the current voice package you installed with a smaller voice package with less content and/or languages. The voice package you installed, 5U5T-14G391-BN is 1.4 GB, and contains many languages and content you may not need. Depending on the language desired, you might be able to install a smaller voice package specific to your need, for example 5U5T-14G391-DN, which is 1 GB. If you can use just English, NA Spanish or French, then 5U5T-14G391-CN might work, which is only 385Mb.

This is discussed in the following tutorial.

Tutorial: Sync 3.4 NON-NAV APIM: Failure to Update to Newer Version Sync 3.4 - Ford / Guides & Info - CyanLabs Official Community

As far as installing the voice package and/or Gracenotes, this can be done with the Syn3 Updater app or independently.

5U5T-14G391-BN contains the following languages:
ARW, DUN, ENA, ENG, ENI, ENU, FRC, FRF, KOK, MNC, MNT, PTB, PTP, SPE, SPM, THT

5U5T-14G391-DN contains the following languages:
ENA, ENG, ENU, GED, MNT, PTB, RUR, SPM, TRT

5U5T-14G391-CN contains the following languages:
ENU, FRC, SPM

CZC - Czech
ARW - Arabic
CZC - Czech
DAD - Danish
DUN - Dutch
ENA - Australian English
ENG - British English
ENI - Indian English
ENU - American English
FRC - Canadian French
FRF - French
GED - German
ITI - Italian
KOK - Korean
MNC - Chinese Mandarin
MNT - Taiwanese Mandarin
NON - Norwegian
PLP - Polish
PTB - Brazilian Portuguese
PTP - Portuguese
RUR - Russian
SPE - Spanish
SPM - Mexican Spanish
SWS - Swedish
THT - Thai

Thanks a lot for the quick answer :smiley:

I have already set up the APIM Interrogation Tool and I will try it first thing in the morning.

Thankfully, my language is SPM, which is present on all 3 language packs. So I guess I can get 5U5T-14G391-CN ?

I’ll update this post once I know the storage of my APIM.

Yeah should be able to

Good morning :slight_smile: Just did the report, this is what it says:

If it’s not safe to openly share that report, please tell me and I’ll remove it. What’s important is that the APIM has 1.1GB of free space.

That log shows your vehicle’s VIN, it’s both in the name of the file and inside.
Personally, I would not share my VIN. If you don’t care about making it public, then you are ok because there is other information, really. You cal always remove the file and paste the text instead, redacting the VIN number.

Also I’d like to thank you for the extremely detailed and thorough posts you have made: super clear, concise, it clearly shows you read before posting, right to the point, and you answer exactly what you have been asked. Makes troubleshooting way easier. :+1:

Just edited the report to hide the VIN, thanks for the heads up :smiley:

I try to not ask questions that are already online, but it seems like the low-storage APIMs are quite rare. Since I’m afraid to damage it or something, I just want to make sure I install the right stuff.

I’ll wait and see what the others tell me to do.

Cheers from Argentina :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit history is visible, I have hidden the old revision.

If all you need is SPM then just install the -CN file and then install Gracenotes if you wish. The tutorials have instructions on how to do this…you should be fine.

OK. Will 5U5T-14G391-CN enable SPM itself when selecting the “Spanish” language in General Settings? Or how do I enable it?

Also, in this tutorial, you mention this: “The application voice files will be replaced temporarily with the NA (North American) version application voice files”. If I’m correct, that’s the CN package, right? But in the tutorial, the package ends with “CM”, not “CM”. Which one should I get?

My USB currently has the Interrogation Tool on it. Is it OK to use the “autoinstall.lst” and “DONTINDX.msa” that are already there? For doing the voice install. Should I remove GB5T-14G386-AD_1606255780000.TAR from the SyncMyRide folder?

Also, stupid question, but how do I “reboot” the APIM? I assume it means to turn off the engine, open a door, wait till screen goes black, close the door, and turn on the engine again.

I am not sure, but just navigate to General Settings, Language and set it.

It’s the -CM package in the tutorial, but the -CN package is updated. Use -CN.

Replace the autoinstall.lst file on the usb with the attached file. Place the 5U5T-14G391-CN_1615429328000.TAR.GZ file in the SyncMyRide folder on the USB. You should save the Interrogator tool files to your computer for later use.
autoinstall.lst (146 Bytes)

Note that you can only have one autoinstall.lst file on the usb at any time.

That will reboot the APIM in the normal fashion. Sometimes sortware or firmware updates require a ‘Master Reset’, which wipes all temporary information including phones, addresses, etc. This is good to do occasionally if you experience slowness, or performance issues. You will need to re-pair your phone after you do this.

Excellent. Just came back from my car and everything went smooth. I now have the lower size voice package installed, which left me with 2.4Gb available (I had 1.1Gb with the BN package).

Now all I have to do is install Gracenotes, am I right? Should I just follow this tutorial?
I’m doubtful of which version to download. Since I want SPM language, can’t I just download 4U5T-14G423-CC? That’s the smallest one of all the other regions that include SPM. Or, if you can provide me the link to the package you personally recomend for my region, that would be great. There’s plenty of files there and IDK which ones are the latest ones.

Assuming everything goes OK and I end up with Sync 3.4 + voice + Gracenotes all installed. How should I update to a newer version of Sync when the time comes? Do voice and Gracenotes get updates as frequent as Sync does? I think that I’ll just make a new thread when the time comes :sweat_smile:

Use 4U5T-14G423-DC, you have the space. Here is the autoinstall.lst for that. Same drill, place autoinstall.lst on usb, place 4U5T-14G423-DC_1615429585000.TAR.GZ file in SyncMyRide directory on usb.

autoinstall.lst (144 Bytes)

<d2p1:PartitionHealth type=“/fs/rwdata/” total=“1.2G” available=“1.0G”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type=“/fs/rwdata/quip/” total=“35M” available=“35M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type=“/fs/rwdata/quip/” total=“90M” available=“90M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type=“/fs/mp/” total=“1.4G” available=“133M”/>
<d2p1:PartitionHealth type=“/fs/images/” total=“3.0G” available=“2.4G”/>

Adding Gracenotes will take about 1GB after decompression, leaving you with about 1.4GB. You can run the Interrogator Tool to verify this.

Just update the app, should be fine with enough storage for the update. If there is an issue with storage for the update, just delete Gracenotes, update the app, re-install Gracenotes. It’s common to do that with NON-NAV units anyways.

All good :smiley: I have succesfully installed Gracenotes, and now I have Sync 3.4 + Voice package + Gracenotes in a NON-NAV 8GB unit thanks to you.

Your attention has been amazing and I really appreciate it, @F150Chief. You seem to be in every single thread I have read, your contributions to this community are really important.

Thanks again, and thanks to @SaNdMaN and @CyanLabs as well :slight_smile: I’ll be probably posting again once an important update comes out.

Cheers!
