Is there a programmatic way to delete the logs in RWDATA?

I basically want to BUILD a USB stick that will boot, delete X number of older logs to free up space in RWDATA, and then exit. I have since upgraded from 22251 to 23088, and yes, my RWDATA partition is still basically full with only 2.9MB available out of 1.2GB. Therefore I am still losing all of my settings from key off to key on next interval. Not sure when Ford is going to fix this for real, but I 1) do not want a new APIM at this time and 2) there must be a way to just manually delete the files that someone has thought of…

Jailbreak

This image showing the RWDATA partition status. I’m thinking this is why the settings in SYNC keep reverting on key off to key on. No more room to write into the APIM?

Yes most likely, but the only way to clear this is with a jailbreak or a reformat if you are not MY20

Maybe the new 3.4.23188 will help with that?

Bill, I will test today and find out.

@CyanLabs I am exactly a MY20. I have read much of the documentation saying this model year should not be reformatted. Is that what you are referencing? So if MY20, then the ONLY option would potentially be jailbreak… or if Ford fixes the issue in a subsequent release/ or releases a tool. Correct?

Ford have fixed the issue but you may be in a state that still requires manual wipe via jailbreak before that update will apply.

I flashed again from 33088 to 33188 and the RWDATA partition now shows 461MB free of 1.2GB. @CyanLabs are you aware of exactly which release fixed the RWDATA issue? Anyhow, things seem to be speedy again, holding settings and working as expected.

@CyanLabs FYI, no jailbreak was required so far. Somehow, it ended up cleaning itself up. Wish I knew more, but that’s what happened between 33088 and 33188. Check out interrogator!

@CyanLabs BTW, this is a MY2020 Ford Explorer ST. I believe there is a video out there somewhere on your website where you say this will not work on MY2020+. Could be mistaken… but have been told.

Please, do not post multiple consecutive messages, use the edit button instead.

The latest 23188.

The Sync update will work fine on a 2020+ APIM. You just cannot reformat it.

Yes because 23188 as per the notes fixed the cleanup script, so the RWDATA is cleared correctly.

As of now, you can use the just released ford rwdata cleaner, now integrated in to syn3updater
