maps 2.24NA updating

good day!
have a 2020 f150, currently running sync 3.4.23188 with maps 2.23NA.
would like new maps installed, but in reading thru instructions. I am not sure I should proceed.
reformat instructions indicate not to insert a reformat usb in a 2020 or newer vehicle or it will brick APIM. (and not sure if this was the same warning when I did the upgrade from sync 3.0 to 3.4 with maps 2.23NA)
I assume that is the same warning for using the downgrade install method.
basically, should I use the downgrade install method to get the 2.24NA maps installed or shoud I not do this as the APIM may be bricked?
thanks for any insights!!

Did you replace the APIM in your 2020 vehicle? It would not have come from the factory in NA with Sync 3.0.

You need to run the Interrogator Utility and determine if your APIM is MY20+. Post the XML here.

hello F150Chief,
I said sync 3.0 as i do not recall the initial version level at the time. No the APIM was not replaced.
xml attached…
thanks for your time!

Your APIM is a LU5T-14G371-CKF, which is MY20+ production. But, the ECU Core Assembly Number is GU5T-14G380-EE, which is NOT the newer EMMC. This is rather rare to see this, very early production 2020 vehicle.

This should be safe to reformat.

ok, thanks for the update!
do I use the reformat install method or do i need the downgrade method?
if downgrade, do i then have to re-upgrade to the latest version?

You need to downgrade to Sync 3.3 to use the reformat tool. Set the Syn3 Updater in automatic mode and make the configuration for the Sync version you have now and choose the new maps. It should indicate that it will downgrade and then reformat.
