Missing parking lines and dynamic guidelines

Hi

I update Base Sync to Sync 3 months ago and with the help of F150Chief and others, have had no issues since.

This week however my active guidelines have just disappeared. I still have the parking distance squares that change colour, audio output, the mini car on the APIM and auto park feature still works.

There has been no changes to hardware or software since installation.

2014 MK3 Focus Titanium trim.

I have ForScan and tried a BCM reset, BMS reset and have just tried a master reset of APIM but still hasn’t resolved it.

Any ideas as to what it might be and what steps I could try to resolve it?

Have you done anything to the Steering Angle Sensor?

No I haven’t. Is there a service procedure to reset it??

Pull the battery cable for ~30 minutes to force a full cold reboot of all the modules.
You also might want to look at the BMS sensor and its pigtail on the negative battery post, Ford powers part of the LIN data bus from there and if it gets corroded all kinds of strangeness. People have seen everything from wipers and windows misbehaving to clusters acting strange.

Thank you. I was just researching the forced BCM procedure by disconnecting the battery. I’ll do that next and let you know.

No luck. Disconnected the battery for over an hour. All cables on battery and BMS look perfect. Battery is at 12.6V when I reconnected it.

Drove for about 10 mins.

Have it double locked now and will let it sit and see.

Anyone have any other ideas? @F150Chief @CyanLabs @warlock12118 @bill32399 ??

I had a similar issue. My rear hatch open light was not lit but the hatch had something lodged in the latch mechanism that prevented full locking. Once i cleared the debrie out of the latching mechanism, the hatch closed and latched and i had my dynamic lines back and working. Thatvine was ahead scratcher for me.

Thank you. Pretty sure mine latches but guaranteed that is the next thing I’ll try.

Sorry I thought I responded to this yesterday, but I guess I did not. Did you try doing the LIN Bus calibration procedure?

Hi @bill32399 No I haven’t. Can you talk me through that? I don’t recall seeing anything in ForScan.

Click on the wrench on the left. Look under BdyCM for “Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration”.

Run that and see if it works. You might see “Rear Camera Calibration” also but it’s not the one.

@bill32399

I don’t have it.
Only have
-BCMii Windscreen Wiper Motor Control
Crash Flag Reset
Battery Monitoring System Reset
Module Reboot

Reverse camera in BCM configuration type was set to CAN. I changed it to LIN, drove the car and nothing changed. I changed it back to CAN as like I said originally, it worked for months then just stopped.

I tried a BCMii module reboot in the spammer menu but again, nothing.

@jmbach

No luck. No obstructions in the latch and it’s working properly. I open my hatch and the parking squares go away. Shut it and they return but still no lines.

You may need a calibration update in the PAM module. F150Chief is away for a few weeks. I am guessing he might know what it would be.

@bill32399

I have the beta version that can do updates but every module recommends I have a charger attached. I’ll get my hands on one.

From the modules page it tells me the PAM is the latest calibration level.

What confuses me is why it just randomly stopped working.

If you read through some of the threads you’ll find that a custom update of the PAM has to be performed to get it to a supported level.

I’ve seen this post before when I initially installed the Sync 3 system.

My PAM is running the latest calibration available on ForScan and I have a pre-facelift so only 9 sensors (6 front 3 rear)

Sorry I am not a Focus guy. More SUV’s for me so I don’t have much to offer on these.

Slight update. If I pull reverse before the system fully boots the parking lines appear for a few seconds then disappear leaving the proximity squares only.
