I’m not sure where you are trying to download “something” from, since in Syn3 Updater - CyanLabs there’s no “Get Syn3 Updater” button or text… So, maybe you are just clicking on some ad?.

Click this on the right:

Yes, I also tried downloading using the link that you copied, and I get the same result.

To give you more background, I used Cyan labs to update the original Sync 3.0 (2017 Ford Explorer) to 3.4 about 2 years ago, maybe a little less than that. Everything worked great, the maps were updated. But starting about 3 months ago, Sync started acting up. It would forget all our stored destinations, phone connections, etc. Each time we would start the car, the radio would be on AM band, which we never use. I want to see if there is an update from the 3.4 build 23088 that might fix these issues.
I tried contacting Ford, and they basically said I shouldn’t have 3.4 on my vehicle, so nothing they could do, not surprisingly.

Run the RWData cleaner in the Syn3 Updater and then upgrade to version 23188.

You might check the battery also. The APIM and ACM do weird things when the batteries start to fade.

That’s odd… Once you click on that, the following page should display a “loading bar” like this:

Once it gets full, the EXE should be automatically downloaded without further interaction.

Where does it exactly fails?. Also, if the file you download is like the one I’ve sent just above, you can ignore the warning.

From what you are saying, you are likely to be running 3.4.22251 or 3.4.23088. Those builds have a bug in which a partition gets full, which causes what you are describing. You need to get out of that build.

All known methods for resolving it are described here → APIM Sync Settings Not Saving, VER_ERR08 Errors, Cannot Perform Master Reset or Upgrades/Updates (Solved)

You do not technically need Syn3updater for that, but it’s highly recommended so that the USBs are created automatically.

By the way, can you download this ?

Syn3Updater_Installer.exe (996.4 KB)

Please confirm since this is just a temp upload to get you going.

Thank you for all the information. Yes, I successfully downloaded Syn3Updater_installer.exe just now without any error messages.

Regarding your first question, I did see the “loading bar” and I get the error messages once that finishes.

Yes, I have the 23088 build of 3.4. I will go forward with the solution you referenced and will let you know how it goes.
Thanks again

Everything worked as well as I could hope. The RW Data cleaner ran smoothly, and the update to 3.4.23188 finished in less than 15 min. When I restarted the vehicle, the message about automatic updates was did not appear.
Thank you again for your assistance in this. We are about to sell the car and upgrade to a 2025, so we really wanted to get this issue fixed before that.
