MY20 Reigon change from NA to Middle East ?

Hello , First excuse my English , my friend have 2020 expedition platinum , he want to update APIM and change the region to Middle east maps , i have done the same vehicle but 2019 same specs and everything , and it went really well , no problems at all because i followed all the steps in the region change topic for F150Chief ,i have enabled 2020 protection ,do i need to be worried as this vehicle is 2020 ? or do i follow the samesteps just with MY20 protection ?

Hello.

We do not support changing regions.

Having said that, you can’t remove NA maps from an unit unless it’s jailbroken or reformatted, and you can’t reformat a MY20 unit with Syn3updater.

So, if you can fit whatever maps you need without removing the NA packages already in place, then you can do that, but maybe you will hit issues down the road while upgrading due to lack of storage… I would not proceed with this approach, you may fill up the APIM without being able to delete maps normally.

Or, you can just jailbreak the unit and remove the NA NAV stuff, or if you are going to JB the unit you can actually reformat it with FMODS’ universal reformat tool.

Bottom line:

we do not support changing regions
we do not support jailbreak
you can’t reformat a MY20 APIM with Syn3updater

does that mean it will add the ROW (Middle East and North Africa) maps without removing NA packages as you said ?

i think ROW maps is not big to cause problems?

As I said, you can’t remove maps, so you are just installing ROW maps onto whatever is already on the unit.

I do not know, but I would not have an APIM with mixed maps. They usually take a lot of space and you may run into issues in the future. I guess you didn’t check how much free space the APIM has, so you can easily lock it out by putting in files that won’t fit.

EDIT: Also, I think I remember F150chief specifically saying the “guide” was about reformatting the unit, which you can’t do at the moment because of MY20… so, there’s your answer but you are free to try whatever you think it’s best…

to be honest i don’t know how to check the space on APIM

yes F150chief guide is about reformatting.

i will try to find the way to check the APIM space and go from there , but i think i will stick to just updating it to the latest version.

You can do that by creating an interrogator log in syn3updater and running it against the unit. It will produce an XML file that can be read by Syn3updater, that will tell you the free storage the unit has, and what model the APIM is.

That’s the best course of action I believe, I would not change regions without removing the old NAV data. You may want to look into FMODS since jailbreaking the unit will allow you to remove NA NAV data or reformatting the unit… But, that’s up to you…
