I did purchase the map update from Ford’s website and downloaded the files along with the license, unfortunately I can’t update my maps because the error message says that Sync software is not compatible even though i’m on 3.4 build 23188. I reached out to Ford and they are showing that i should be on sync 3.0 build 23219. Any suggestions?
That would be because the map package was built by Ford for 3.0.23219.
As soon as you reformatted the APIM to go to 3.4.x you went into an unsupported configuration.
Can you post the autoinstall.lst so that we can see what is in the package.
Here is the file attached.

Sync 3.0 maps…not compatible. You can update to the most recent using the Syn3 Updater.
Is it correct then that the install method would show downgrade even though it is the same build number, or do I need to make a change elsewhere? TIA
Yes, you need to downgrade to Sync 3.3 to run the reformat tool. The installation will take about 35 minutes altogether.
Read the Installation Instructions section of the attached to give you an idea of the process.

The pic looks good…
Thank you for your help really wish Ford made it easier, though given the circumstances I understand why. Ford’s advise was to get the APIM reloaded with the 3.0.23219 software build at the dealer.
Which they can’t even do.
I didn’t even know that.
I’ve installed the NA2 24 map on my 2017 Escape and 2020 Escape Hybrid. No problem with the installation on either.
HOWEVER, the maps are full of speed limit errors. This has been the case starting with the NA2 22 version. For example, in Michigan, an un-posted rural road has a 55mph speed. The map shows 25mph. Since the system uses what it thinks are the speeds to calculate routes, it gets the fastest route wrong. It also has no clue about Michigan’s upper peninsula seasonal roads that are closed in the winter. It also tried to route me down snow mobile trails.
I’ve had ZERO success contacting the HERE corporation. They say they don’t deal with Sync 3 issues. Ford won’t admit to it being their responsibility, either.
Anyone else frustrated with this?
Ford does not dictate what is contained in the maps and cannot fix the errors, this is up to the supplier, HERE corporation. It is the same for many vehicle manufacturers unfortunately.
Wrong all over my area also. They won’t talk about it because than people won’t upgrade.
Back in 2022, I used CyanLabs to upgrade my 2018 F150 from Sync3.0 to 3.4 (which would have inevitably required a reformat if I remember correctly?) So, my question is, can I now use Cyanlabs to upgrade my maps to the new NA2024 ESN locked version? Will I require another reformat, or was the initial reformat sufficient? I am obviously worried about bricking my APM.
You can and it will require a format again for US maps. They are all ESN locked for the US so it requires a format for that reason.
Excuse my ignorance. How do I force a format when I am already on Sync3.4?
You don’t, you downgrade and then reformat. DO NOT force anything in the app.
So which version should I safely downgrade to in order to make it format the apim?
If you set up the Syn3 Updater with your present version and region and nav or not, leave it in auto-detect mode, the app will decide for you. It should choose downgrade and then reformat for the map upgrade.
Worked like a charm. Thank you Bill32399 and F150Chief!
