Nav Voice Prompt Skipping

Morning all!

Ok, I have successfully updated to 21265 (took 32 mins, working form a 32GB SanDisk stick) and my user data has been unaffected.
From a quick short test, the nav voice has still skipped a couple of times, and other times it has been ok. It’s a kind of a skip or a second’s pause, between or mid-word, and is definitely ‘new’.

Any further suggestions…?

Have you reinstalled NAV voices?, or did you just update the APPS and VOICE (for APP)?

I installed everything offered by the updater (while selecting (keep existing maps)-

ENH-DAB

GRACENOTES

APPS

VOICE

Oh, then you should try this:

Ok, dumb question, how do I do that?

You can check this thread out → Tutorial: 2020 North America 2.20 Map Installation (Stand-Alone without Reformat) with Updated NAV_Voice 06/21/2021
It’s for NA, but will give you information about what needs to be done.

Since your unit is EU (64GB), I would think the space limitation described in the NA thread might not apply, but not 100% sure.

If you do not want to proceed manually, you can set Syn3updater to create the USB in a single stage.

Otherwise, you need to follow the tutorial to install the 3 files in multiple steps.
You could use Syn3updater to do so by creating multiple UBS for the multiple files.
If you check the file selection list in Syn3updater, you will find VOICE_NAV files…
And those should be autoinstalled.

Ok, I think I get the idea, but I’m not sure which 3 files I should be installing? I’ve found the files download page on the site, but don’t know which ones to choose, and I can’t find a file selection list on Syn3Updater at all?

(Sorry if I’m being dense here, appreciate the help!)

There’s a scroll bar on the right, it’s a scrollable section

Just make sure to have syn3updater configured with your current versions (both map and build)

LOL, duh! Ok, thank you.

Made the USB of just the three voice files with the Updater but got ‘MEM_ERR01’ when I put it in the car.

Interesting…
It seems you do not even have space to copy the file.
Also, why 3 files?, when took the screenshots Syn3updater showed 4 files for EU 20 maps.

Lets do this:

  • create an interrogator log with syn3updater
  • run it against the APIM
  • upload the XML file generated on the USB once it ran on the APIM. Redact your VIN from the file’s title and content if you care about those things

This will tell us information about the APIM, mainly how many free space it has.

My maps are version F9, and there were definitely only three voice files available. (Screen shot above shows F10)

It shows 4 to me:

About the log, 12G seems more than enough to process the files, please upload the autoinstall.lst file that was created for the voice_nav installation.

autoinstall.lst (592 Bytes)

You are starting to confuse me. There are 4 VOICE_NAV files in that autoinstall.lst file, not 3 as you said before. So you either made a mistake before, or you recreated the file with all 4 files now. Please keep in mind that we are not sitting by your side while you are doing stuff, we only know what you tell us.

Those files are almost 8 GB, try doing like in the tutorial and split that into multiple operations to see if that works.

I definitely had only the three voice files highlighted in Updater when I clicked start to create the USB; I’ll try again soon from scratch and see what happens.

My apologies! Yes, I had all FOUR Voice files highlighted. I will try and make the USB again…

Here’s what I have clicked on-

About the screenshot, those are the same that are already referenced by the autoinstall.lst file you provided
