LOL, duh! Ok, thank you.
Made the USB of just the three voice files with the Updater but got ‘MEM_ERR01’ when I put it in the car.
Interesting…
It seems you do not even have space to copy the file.
Also, why 3 files?, when took the screenshots Syn3updater showed 4 files for EU 20 maps.
Lets do this:
- create an interrogator log with syn3updater
- run it against the APIM
- upload the XML file generated on the USB once it ran on the APIM. Redact your VIN from the file’s title and content if you care about those things
This will tell us information about the APIM, mainly how many free space it has.
My maps are version F9, and there were definitely only three voice files available. (Screen shot above shows F10)

It shows 4 to me:
About the log, 12G seems more than enough to process the files, please upload the autoinstall.lst file that was created for the voice_nav installation.
autoinstall.lst (592 Bytes)
You are starting to confuse me. There are 4 VOICE_NAV files in that autoinstall.lst file, not 3 as you said before. So you either made a mistake before, or you recreated the file with all 4 files now. Please keep in mind that we are not sitting by your side while you are doing stuff, we only know what you tell us.
Those files are almost 8 GB, try doing like in the tutorial and split that into multiple operations to see if that works.
I definitely had only the three voice files highlighted in Updater when I clicked start to create the USB; I’ll try again soon from scratch and see what happens.
My apologies! Yes, I had all FOUR Voice files highlighted. I will try and make the USB again…
Please, do not post multiple messages, you have just posted 3 consecutive messages.
There’s an edit option, edit a post and add information.
About the screenshot, those are the same that are already referenced by the autoinstall.lst file you provided

Split that into multiple operations as described in the tutorial.
Very sorry, just wanted to give the right info for you.
I will try that tomorrow and report back- thank you for all your help today.
No problem!. Maybe it makes sense to “bump” threads after some time passed by re-posting without editing a message (thus making the thread unread to the public) to bring attention to the thread. But posting 3 separate, related and consecutive messages in 17 minutes, well, not so much
Sure, take your time, drop us a message with the results or issues you may encounter.
On a personal note, I understand you do not want to reformat due to the favs in the nav… But since you are running an older map version, maybe, just maybe, if this does not work either it would be a nice excuse to reformat the unit and set everything to the latest available version , which also includes newer maps.
Installing too much data at once. Those files are large, compressed size is:
4U5T-14G422-BAF 2.3Gb Sync3 v3.2.20339 EU (DUN,ENG,FRF,GED)
4U5T-14G422-BBF 2.2Gb Sync3 v3.2.20339 EU (ITI,PTP,SPE,TRT)
4U5T-14G422-BCF 1.6Gb Sync3 v3.2.20339 EU (CZC,PLP,RUR)
4U5T-14G422-BDF 2.0Gb Sync3 v3.2.20339 EU (DAD,FIF,NON,SWS)
And you are installing the older files, about the same size. The uncompressed size is 8.1GB, uncompressed about 12.15GB. Need to split the deck.
Use this autoinstall.lst file.
autoinstall.lst (623 Bytes)
How did it go?, do you need something else?.
I’m setting a 4 days of inactivity auto-closure for this thread.
HI! Sorry, had a couple of days of other stuff to sort out first.
I updated the four Nav Voice files one at a time today, and I THINK that has worked- certainly the ‘…route guidance will start’ message has repeatedly played out just fine. I will test it out better later today on an actual drive, and will report back!
Awesome, glad to hear, thanks for sharing.
If by reinstalling the packages worked then it may had been caused by package corruption. Lets hope it keeps working fine from now on.
Take care.
Damn! Been for a proper drive, and still have the fault. It’s entirely random- i.e, it might say ‘turn left now’ and have the fault, then say it again and not- so it isn’t a particular phrase or word. Just a totally random pause/break in a phrase/word. It’s livable, but annoying, as I like things to be ‘right’.
I guess my only options now are a master reset and/or an upgrade to F10?
If you ask me, make the most of a master reset: upgrade everything to the latest available versions via reformat, and then master reset…
But, keep in mind the APIM might be starting a downhill path…
