Navigation and GPS issues

2013 f250. Had sync2. Updated to Sync3 system from 2016 Ford focus. Bought gps puck with blue connector and installed. I set up my asbuilts according to some posts from here. Navigation screen is working but I still get navigation fault and I need to take to dealer. Gps is not working even though it should be according to the as built bits. I notice when I enable navigation from the second apim section that the nav does not display.

Did you do a master reset after the upload to the car as this often fixes Nav bugs?

Good luck with a dealer at $180 an hour. They are not going to want to troubleshoot and figure out your AB. Their systems do not change AB like Forscan does. They will probally give you the official Ford response which is Ford does not support the Sync 3 retrofits.

Where did you get the config for this?

The APIM config for a Focus is entirely different than one for an F250, you can’t just drop it in, nor can you use the factory config for your F250.

I used the cyan labs to download configs for my f250.

I’m assuming that all apim’s can be configured to be the same.

Everything else works as it should.

Cyanlabs does not do configurations. It only does Sync and map updates. Forscan will do AB configs and Calibrations.

For the most part you are correct that all APIM’s AB can be configured the same. Calibrations can make them different though.

For a base config to load with ForScan I’d use one from a 2016 F250 with close to the same trim/options as yours.

You can find one on a used car site and use the VIN to download it from Ford.

Understood. Then I updated to the newest 3.4 version of sync.

Warlock12118 I was going to do just what you suggested and input another vin in ford website and download that particular update but I wasn’t sure if that was the best. Since most of them were still utilizing sync 2. I’ll look around and see what I can find.

I assumed one could just adjust the apim asbuiltin and get those things to work.

When I do the maps/nav on cyanlabs do I need to choose the most upto date so it reformats the apim? I was going to just use apple CarPlay, so I wasn’t sure what was necessary

2016 was the first Sync3 year for the F150/F250 family

You’re not downloading the update, you need to pull the config.

Take the VIN, go to https://www.motorcraftservice.com/Asbuilt/ and download the config.

Once you have that you use ForScan to upload it to the APIM (module APIM as built mode, load from file, select the one you downloaded and then write it to the APIM.
