I have a 2013 F150 with the Sony amp system. I upgraded the sync 2 system to a sync 3 system that I bought off eBay, which you confirmed was counterfeit. Everything works perfectly except I don’t have any voice prompts in navigation. This is in the unit’s built-in maps and the Android Auto in Waze and Google Maps. I’ve done a master reset with no help and turned up the volume when the voice prompts are supposed to be playing.
The one weird thing I did hear the navigation voice once, when the phone was ringing and when a voice prompt was supposed to be playing at the same time.
“Everything works great except it doesn’t” One of those statements might be right.
If the unit is a counterfeit then it’s not going to play by the rules. You’ll have to speak to whomever programmed that unit because only he will know for sure.
When you say new install, can I install over it, or do I have to format? Do I install everything or just maps? The maps I have installed now are NA 2 23, I see that in the map dropdown for 2023 and 2024 it says ESN Locked, do I have to worry about that? Can I update to the newer 2024 maps?
Sorry for so many questions. I haven’t used the updater yet.
As long as you know the APIM is not a 2020+ APIM than yes do a reformat.
Also stop calling Ford. Your doing something they don’t support so they are not going to help you. Don’t waste their time. It’s calls like this that make Ford change things so you cant do this kind of stuff. Hence why SYNC 4 is OTA only.
For the record I never contacted Ford, I only messaged the Chinese that I bought it from on eBay. They wanted me to contact Ford and I told them why would Ford help me with a counterfeit. They never responded back to me after that. That’s why I’m here hoping you guys can help me.
I did a new install and a master reset afterward, but I still don’t have navigation prompts or a ringtone when I get a call. I did get an upgrade to my maps, so that was nice.
Based on the pic you posted above…
You say you have a Sony Premium audio system? Your Sync 3 APIM asbuilt indicates otherwise. The Sync 2 APIM asbuilt would be appropriate.
If you have the Sony DSP, you should have the Sync 2 settings for A221. Or AA21 if you have the rear camera displayed in Sync.
The rest of the line should be A221 0102 22xx. (xx = the checksum bits, let FORScan calculate and write those.)
Suggestions:
7D0-01-02 should read 0281 0204 0Axx
7D0-02-01 should read 5553 0003 00xx This line needs to be changed to this…
7D0-02-02 should read 0200 8000 00xx
7D0-02-03 0005 E1
7D0-03-01 0000 0101 00DD
7D0-04-01 should read 0100 1400 0Exx
7D0-04-02 0001 DE
The rest looks ok.
But the first line looks like it might be the issue, but, if the volume control is working now and the DSP is working I can’t see how with the 2A21 code.
