Hi all,
I converted my 2016 F-150 XL from Sync 1 to Sync 3. The donor APIM is from a 2018 F-150 Raptor (part number JL3T-14G370-HKB — confirmed by the Raptor boot animation and the part number), which came from the factory with the B&O premium audio system. My truck has the base ACM and base speaker setup (no B&O), so there’s a known mismatch between APIM and ACM/speakers.
Most issues from the conversion are already resolved thanks to this community’s info:
Fixed: EQ/balance stuck at max + volume frozen at 0 → changed APIM 7D0-01-01 first block from AA2A to 2A2A (removes Sony/DSP flag).
Fixed: No call audio at all (screen switched to call mode but silent both ways) → changed ACM 727-01-01 first hex digit from D to 9 (switched APIM gen1 → gen2 recognition, per the SDARS/APIM-gen bit table).
Fixed: Call volume too low → changed ACM 727-01-01 second block from 0800 to 1800.
Remaining issue: All phone-sourced audio — USB Android Auto, wireless Android Auto, and plain A2DP Bluetooth streaming — plays almost entirely out of the front passenger speaker only. Balance/fade moves the “focus” but other speakers stay very quiet/weak. CD and FM radio are perfectly balanced across all speakers, so it’s source-specific (phone audio path), not wiring/speaker hardware. Confirmed with 3 different phones — same result every time, so it’s not phone-side either.
Already ruled out: My conversion harness has two loose “Y”-shaped terminals that fit together perfectly but don’t connect to anything — bridged them thinking it might be the Mono/Alert line some people mention, made zero difference, reverted.
My theory: since the APIM came from a B&O Raptor, it may have internal channel-mapping/amp-topology expectations for phone-source audio (routed differently from tuner-source audio) that a simple DSP-off flag doesn’t fully override. Does the APIM’s B&O-oriented firmware handle phone audio channel routing differently at a level not exposed via the ACM’s As-Built, and is there a way to force it to treat phone audio the same way it now treats tuner audio?
