Any reason why I’m missing MAP_LICENSE text within reformat.lst, and Map License File would be missing from SyncMyRide folder? Tried downloading twice, with and without Generator key. This seems to be the last piece of my puzzle.
The long story, I am trying to create a full package USB for my new MY20. I jailbroke my unit, updated maps only with all packages to NA 2 25 and now my SiriusXM is wonky (sometimes it does not work at all, radio logos are half missing, only way to fix is a soft reset). Don’t want to have to do a soft reset 50% of the time. Already attempted Master Reset and send XM signal to unit.
Spent two days pulling my hair out.
My new plan is to Reformat using Fmods Universal Reformat Tool (since I am Jailbroken), then use Cyanlabs installer (deleting autoinstall.lst and cyan reformat tool 1u5t-14g386-cb.tar.gz). Basically, Installing Voice, Gracenotes, Apps, Voice, and Maps from scratch.
Any advice would be appreciated. Would rather not nuke the system if I don’t have to…
Edit: I guess I got confused. I suppose I do not need a map license file if I reformat first?
SYNC Region: NA
Navigation Variant: Nav
Manufacturer Year: MY20
Install Type: OEM
Old SYNC Version: 3.4.23188
New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No Error per say, but Map license text is missing as well as license itself.
The real question is why are you questioning a method that’s been working fine for years… I mean, I’m sure you don’t think you are the first one to encounter this “issue”, right?.
Correct, for installing ESN locked maps (which require a license), reformat is used to bypass such requirement. If you have the license you can autoinstall them though.
I’m not sure if that changes with FMODS, but we do not support FMODS here, so…
Should you reformat the unit (not with Syn3updater, of course) with the given files, you should be ok.
Thanks for the info, and seems spot on with all my research. My old 2017 Fusion did not have maps, so this is slightly new to me! I will never use maps anyway, but somehow I think they’re haunting my system, lol.
There’s no real advantage in not installing maps on a NAV APIM… Even if you are not planning to use them, it’s always nice to have them as plan B or C…
I use maps on the Sync system just for that, a secondary path. Your on board maps will always work after a hurricane, phone not so much. Live on the Gulf coast…
Exactly… they do not need data coverage, they do not even need a GPS signal (if conditions are met)… So if the unit is NAV, I would always recommend installing them…
I know this is a bit offtopic, but I’m really sad Ford has such a lame policy for their navigation system. It’s really good, with lane assistance even… It works underground, it works in tunnels…
I was pretty amazed to see that even without GPS lock it worked “well enough” until the GPS locked in.
