question about updating maps from 1.19 to 2.24.

currently have the 1.19 build of maps. was wondering if can update to the 2.24. it is in red on the program and says. ESN Locked (PRE mY20 ONLY AS REQUIRES REFORMAT. It is not possible to install this map release on your sync 3. only apmis from (pre my20) and older can use esn locked maps. My20 protection is enabled.

does this mean that i can only upgrade to the 2.20 or do i have to reinstall the lastest version, which i am on already with the newest map pack.

What’s your end goal?.

Syn3updater only works for upgrading from 3.0 to 3.3/3.4 and for operations while being on 3.3/3.4, not 3.0. So you can’t use Syn3updater to update maps alone.

You could install new maps on 3.0 but you would need a license from Ford.

Last I looked Ford map update was $149.

If you’re going to buy one hold off for a few months until NA225 gets released, buying the license only gets you the update for the current version, its not a subscription where you get the new one for free even if it gets released the day after you buy the license.

now i am even more confused. I used the updater to go from 3.0 to 3.4 and maps 1.0 to 1.19 like i watched on a video. I noticed on the updater that there is a 2.24 maps pack, but it is red. You can just do maps according to the sync3updater program. I am JUST asking if they will install just by themselves or do i have to reinstall 3.4 again at the same time.

This happens when users (you in this case) give wrong information:

That told me you are on 3.0, not that you already upgraded from 3.0 to 3.4.

If you already upgraded from 3.0 to 3.4 you can reformat the unit and install the whole package, ESN locked maps can’t be autoinstalled, only via reformat (hence the MY20 limitation you saw in red).

sorry i forgot to type that part. but it also was in the info that i supplied as well. Not trying to argue about anything, just don’t want to brick my car. I just got it.

There is also a 1.19 and 2.xx NA maps for 3.0, so you can see how that’s ambiguous/wrong…

Unless something was swapped in the car, you won’t since you didn’t before.
