Will I loose all of my custom APIM settings if reformatting in order to updated maps to 2024? I am currently on 3.319052 as I dont want to pay 80 dollars for a usb port. I am using android anyway. This is for a 2016 F150 pre my20 unit. I had a heck of a time trying to get the audio settings correct to enable the subwoofer output and dsp in Forscan last year an would like to avoid having to change all those settings back.

It’s possible, yes.

That’s an easy fix, save your current APIM asbuilt and restore it if needed after the reformat.

Thank you for the reply. Do you know if I need to renew a forscan license to save and restore?

Unless I’m mistaken, you do not need the paid version for that “basic” usage, so no license required.

If you want confirmation that’s an easy try as well, try reloading your current asbuilt, it should be good.

To follow up, I was able to update the map to 2.24. I had to get a trial license for forscan to make it work. to view asbuilt APIM settings and make a copy, the unlicensed version would not work. Luckily, once everything was updated all of the sound settings were still the same.

That’s odd about needing a license in order to modify the asbuilt, maybe something changed along the way.

Reformat never changes the the APIM asbuilt config.

Think of the asbuilt config as being the bios settings on a PC, reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the OS doesn’t change the settings.

“Never” is a strong and definitive word. There had been cases in which users claimed they lost some customization and they had to re-apply the ASBUILT because of changes introduced after a reformat.

That’s why I said it was “possible” (I specifically didn’t even use “probable”, because I do not know the probability), which it’s.

I’ve done north of 150 reformats on everything from G through N series and I’ve yet to have to reload the AB.

What I have had to do is perform a hard reboot of the APIM so that it loads the AB back into memory, the only way this happens is when you do a module write, kill the power to the APIM 20+ minutes so that it does a cold boot or a module reboot using Forscan/IDS/FDRS.

Since it seems you wanna flex, I’ve seen hundreds (and possibly thousands) of operations through this site since I joined in 2020, enough to say it’s possible for the asbuilt to be reverted or modified as previously said.
