Rwdata full even numerous soft resets done and the rw data cleaner tool used

I keep getting memory errors trying to reformat the unit. Also cannot perform master reset as it freezes . Usual not saving settings scenarios too. Sometimes rear camera freezes after shifting from reverse. The unit has been updated to the latest version.
Would flashing with Forscan to factory setting solve the problem?

Update Method: Official Ford

Forscan isn’t going to fix this.

I’ll give you what I do when I have a stubborn one like this.

What you can try to do is to create a USB with JUST the RWDATA cleaner on it, then use ForScan for a module reboot and then plug in the USB while the module is rebooting.

Cleanup will take say 5-10 minutes, after that rinse/repeat it again.

Then try a simple downgrade to 3.4.21265, once it completed do a master reset followed by a module reboot after it comes back up.

Check the RWDATA after that, if its clean proceed with the an update to 3.4.23188

Thanks a lot.

I will do that tomorrow as we are celebrating The New Year now.

Will let to know how’d go.

This is very interesting, thanks for sharing.
Do you have an approximate success rate %?

Please do and share your results, because we may include it in the troubleshooting thread for this issue ( APIM Sync Settings Not Saving, VER_ERR08 Errors, Cannot Perform Master Reset or Upgrades/Updates (Solved) ) as yet another workaround.

Success rate is about 60% if the APIM is one that was previously updated using a USB, its almost like you have to get the APIM to a specific build fork that is pre-RWDATA bug so that it can wipe the partition correctly. I haven’t had much luck with .19274, but I have with .21265 and Ford doesn’t publish a change log so no idea what got rolled in there.

With APIMs that got updated OTA that even FDRS can’t seem to fix its more like maybe 35% and with those I usually have to run the RWDATA cleaner again after .21265 even though the interrogator shows the partition is cleaned up before going to .23188. The dead giveaway there is that the about Sync will show 3.4.21265 and the license info, but every function under General is grayed out.

Unfortunately it didn’t help. Cleaning took only about a minute and then the unit restarted with no changes. I have tried it several times.

Also I have tried to run the official newest update. It was running for about 30 min then I still had the error’ ver_err08’.

Then you have to try the documented methods here → APIM Sync Settings Not Saving, VER_ERR08 Errors, Cannot Perform Master Reset or Upgrades/Updates (Solved) , even the legacy ones since the rwdata cleaner is not working either.

See if you can get the unit to downgrade to Sync 3.4.19101 or below. Use only the Sync app file with autoinstall. Once there you can reformat the APIM. Perform like 2 reboots in a row and master reset before you try to downgrade.

But the thing is that I cannot to master reset, it freezes emediately I touch on- screen button. I haven’t tried to downgrade only using app file though. I will give it a go .

It didn’t work either.

The main problem is that I cannot free any space on rwdata partition with cleaner tool not with soft resets. And in addition master reset freezes Al the time.

the only way is thru a reformat option #2 change the daughter board

Thanks very much.
