My point is, you do not know what the vehicle has, it’s OEM to you but maybe it’s not OEM at all. Again, this changes things…
This is also strange… if you didn’t see the green screen, I wonder if the screen just died before finishing the process…
You should had seen something like this:

Anyways, try running the interrogator and see what it does…
This can happen on a reformat if he’s got an older G/H APIM with a K series screen on it instead of a G.
It needs a G series screen for the right drivers to load on the reboot, after that you can go back to a K series until the next reformat.

Sandisk is a good brand, I do not think the USB is the issue here.
Based on what we now know, this puzzles me. What did you exactly say?. If the USB “took”, the unit would enter the reformat phase, where a progress bar is shown (like the one I sent before).
But your unit is still on 2.2, so the reformat package was never installed. The reformat package is autoinstalled:

So, what did you see?, it could not be a progress bar…
Whatever you do now is risky since you can’t see what’s going on… Before risking a reformat, I would try manually installing 3.0. For instance, you could try autoinstalling JR3T-14G381-AY.
