Don’t need any help - just want to encourage others. So feel free to move this if I’ve posted in the wrong place. My son bought a 2016 Mustang last week. I just finished using the updater to go from a stock never updated 1.0.15139 SYNC 3 system to 3.4.23188. Worked amazingly well. Used the 2.14.2.0 version of Syn3 Updater and USB key was a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB. Took roughly 28 minutes from start to finish on the actual update itself. Here’s the process I followed:
Bought new USB hub for car (part number HU5T-14F014-AD)
Installed new USB hub (super easy)
Created USB using Syn3 Updater 2.14.2.0
Started car
Ran Master reset on SYNC
When system came back up, stuck in USB key
Got “software updating message” for a few moments and then the system rebooted on its own
Installer popped up and went through updating everything. There’s a progress meter and stopwatch so you can monitor the progress
My update took around 28 minutes including the map updates
Got message install was successful and to remove the USB key
Pulled USB key and system rebooted
Waited for sytem to come all the way up and then did another master reset
When system came back up, plugged in iPhone and CarPlay worked
I wasn’t able to get the system to update at all using Ford’s 3.0 update. Wasn’t even able to get the interrogator log to run or produce any output on that SYNC system before the update. Syn3 tool worked like a charm on first use. Amazing tool - thank you so much!
