SYN3 3.4.22251 ERROR

Good day, last week I’ve gotten troubles with my Syn3 3.4.22251 such as: General user settings are not saving; Master Reset does not function; Cannot perform updates or downgrades. VER_ERR12 error code. I’ve read what it seems every fix possible, but still can’t get my problem fixed.
Interrogator log USB, gracenotes removal and RW data cleaner fixes does not work as I get an message saying VER_ERR12.
I have tried to do F150Chief’s tutorial, but nothing can be done as the Interrogator Utility logging tool does not work.

Is there any hope?

Let’s try this before doing an update.

  1. use the updater to create an RW data cleaner USB (use a good quality USB)
  2. make sure you don’t have ANYTHING plugged into the other USB ports
  3. You really don’t want to be on .22251 it’s buggy as hell, you need to be on either .21265 or .23188. Personally I find .21265 to be the less buggy of the two.

The cleaner is literally just item 1 in the list, if you do a copy of the autoinstall and save it, then edit the autoinstall removing everything below the line saying open 1 you’ll have the RW data cleaner only.

Try pulling the battery cable for ~30 minutes to force a full cold reboot of all the modules and try again with just the RW data cleaner.

Oh sorry, somehow the other code pasted itself into reply. I have already edited my last reply’s code. Will try to do full cold reboot, I’ll inform about the results.

Update: The full cold reboot didn’t work, and the RW data cleaner also doesn’t work. I still get the ERR12. Only positive: got back the master reset options, as it was getting stuck before. Looking right now to get Forscan, as it seems as the only options to get my data cleaned.

Can you run an interogator log now?

Have you tried using a name brand USB like PNY/SanDisk/Lexar/A Data and/or the other USB port?

You’ve read my mind. Bought a new Data 64gb USB, trying my luck with updating right now. Live from the car. So far, for 15mins, its saying “updating system software…”
will try doing interogator log if it fails.

Cheap or old USBs will get you every time with this, they’re probably the most common cause of a failed install, with having something plugged into the second port coming second followed by worn out/damaged USB ports.

waited an hour and it was still saying “updating system software” so took it a bit further and checked the interogator log.

rwdata=1008 / 1.2G
APIM Free Space: 2.2G after removing GN.
Did MR and now trying once more to install a new version without GN and Voice packages.
Hoping for the best. Do you know how long should it take? Because I found some information about infinite updating hangs and got a little worried.

Thank you all for replying, got it up and running! God I’m relieved. Huge thanks to all of you, especially @warlock12118 . This community is amazing and I’m grateful to be a part of it!

It’s not the space on the APIM, its the space in the RWData.

Doing just an APP without GraceNote or voices update should run about 20 minutes.
If you’re doing the full install, the EU and NA Non NAV takes 35-45 minutes.

Hi all

My EcoSport is the same condition. I thought this thread might be the answer but didn’t get much of an idea as to what fixed dlay22’s problems

No matter what I do Err12 keeps popping up. I unplug and put back in to see a message install complete after half a second.

Tried factory reset but the screen locks before actually resetting
Tried multiple soft resets, error 12
Tried RWcleaner only, error 12
Tried interrogator, nothing but error 12
I have tried unplugging the battery for hours and trying all again ,same result

22251 is an absolute joke. I can’t believe Ford did this.

So it sounds like I am in the same position as the beginning of the thread, what worked?

“You really don’t want to be on .22251 it’s buggy as hell, you need to be on either .21265 or .23188”

What do you mean by this bit, are you referring to the sync version in the vehicle? Version of the RWCleaner? Just trying to figure out if I have different options for the tool version?

Those are SYNC versions.

Hi Daniel. The first thing that helped me was buying a new 64GB USB drive. From there I was able to clear my RW data, delete GN, and do the interogator log. So i guess my fault was the USB drive.

Thanks so much for the clarification.

I will try that for sure, as I followed steps for the Fmods jailbreak and even the jailbreak USB flagged a ERR_12…

So everything I have tried has now flagged a ERR_12, including jailbreak, I am totally at a loss.

So either a bad USB/cheap USB thumb drive or a screwed up USB port.
What happens if you use the other USB port?

It does behave differently but does come up with the same result, it seems to take longer but does come up with the same ERR_12.

The USBs are fairly new Sandisks but I will buy some new ones to be safe, just for the sake of elimination.
