I don’t understand the map choices. I’m upgrading from 2.2.16280 to 3.4.23188 Can I select 2.24 (2024) - NA ESN Locked (Pre MY20 only as requires REFORMAT)?
I’m okay with the reformat. But then do I need to purchase a license from Ford? Or should I select 2.20 (2020) - NA Not ESN Locked?
I have not updated the system.

As long as your APIM has not been replaced with a 2020+ model than your fine to continue with the 24 maps. It will do a reformat and take about 35-40 min.

ESN locked maps require a license file from Ford for the particular unit, you can’t autoinstall them unless the license is found. To bypass that you must reformat the APIM.

So:
ESN locked maps → require reformat
ESN not-locked maps → require autoinstall

Reformat, if possible, is always recommended since it’s faster and cleaner than autoinstall.
