Recently tried to upgrade my 2019 f250 sync from 3.0 - 3.3
during the long install I received a red error message. Im not sure what to do to resolve this issue.

Do not use cheap or generic devices, use a quality branded USB pendrive and try again.

Also, are you sure the unit has NAV?.

The reformat and installation of Sync 3.4 with NA maps from Sync 3.0 takes 28 minutes. If this is taking longer, it is likely that the USB drive is slow or has issues. As @SaNdMaN states above, try another drive, USB 3.0.

I do have nav but i dont use is and it wasnt working when i got the truck. Do you think I can try without it?

The Navigation was stuck in Texas and wouldn’t update. I am not the first owner of this truck.

My truck is still in an updating setting. The computer program is asking me to connect to truck first then plug USB into computer to download new info. Not sure how I can bypass this step. Sorry I’m asking all of these questions. I am currently lost and freaking out about this lol

Use the edit button instead of posting multiple messages, there’s an edit button for a reason.

Then how do you know it’s a NAV variant if it never worked?, it seems you are not the 1st owner of the vehicle.

I do not recognize that brand as known or well established, your computer even flags it as generic.

You can try loading just sync3 without navigation if you do not have another pendrive to test right now.

around the 19 min marker it seems to fail. VOICE is the failed error that occurred.

Try a reformat without the NAV files, just the Sync app and voice files. This should recover the unit and then you can run the Interrogator Utility and post the results.

Recover the APIM from a failed reformat installation.

  1. Download Sync 3.3.19052, 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ.
  2. Make a usb formatted EXFAT with the following:
    a. In the root of the usb, place the attached reformat.lst file.
    b. Create a SyncMyRide folder.
    c. In the SyncMyRide folder, place file 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ.
  3. Insert USB in the vehicle Sync USB port and wait for the installation to finish.
  4. Reboot the Sync unit.
  5. This will recover the unit to Sync 3.3.19052.

The Sync unit will only have the Sync app installed now, no voice files, maps, etc. At this point, you can now update or reformat the unit with the current Sync version with the appropriate files (and maps for NAV units). Use the Syn3 Updater and enter the current version as Sync 3.3.19052 along with your region information, etc.

Is the Sync app file in the SyncMyRide folder on the USB? I know by that message the reformat.lst file is correct.

Just downloaded the 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ I moved that file into the syncmyride folder
