Read some others saying they had issues with changing their ambient lighting on 17 and older F150s. This is a concern for me and I want some reassurance it will work properly. It is not worth me upgrading if I lose this feature. Also, will it still be compatible with front camera and 360* camera? Also, heated steering wheel option?

This has been an exception, not the norm. It has mostly to do with folks who have changed the factory asbuilt.

The asbuilt is the APIM or Sync module programming info, different from software or firmware. If it does get affected it can be fixed. You will need a program called FORScan (free) and a OBDII adapter. The recommended ones are $50. (OBDLink EX)

Thanks. One last question regarding the ambient lighting… I just want to be clear it still gives me option to change the colors, not just change the brightness? I know on newer models with 3.4 it gives you Ambient Lighting options, but its just to change the brightness.
I have a 2015 F150 Platinum that I upgraded from Sync 2 to Sync 3, added a TCU, etc. It has the ambient lighting with illumination and color changes, now set to Lincoln colors. The ambient lighting functions are controlled thru the BCM and the lighting modules themselves, the APIM (and Sync) are just a control surface (HMI). Although there are settings in the APIM for ambient lighting, this is nothing but a control palette for the system.
The only place that I have read of any issues with ambient lighting due to software updates was by folks who have also made other changes to their vehicles using FORScan or other software. This probably ended up in incompatible asbuilt data with conflicts.
Most Fords, If not all, now use the BCM to supply the Ambient lighting signals now. This status is also sent through the Medium Speed CanBus so the Door modules can pick it up also. Prior to that and until 2019 some models still used the HVAC module to supply the Ambient lighting signals. Mostly the 2011-15 Explorer and 2013-2019 Flex. Up to 2012 many Fords used a dedicated module with a switch for the AL. These were not tied to the Can bus system and could not be changed through the APIM.

You do not need the USB, the log is on a folder in your computer, check syn3updater, you can browse it from the app.
Also, you do have NAV right?.
It will be fine, just need to figure out what is going on…like NAV.
He says he has a 2017 King Ranch and those came Standard with the Nav package.
