Hello.
You should ask Ford that.
I think theyâre busy with Sync 5 these days, LOL
At some point there wonât be any new builds unless some urgent bug or vulnerability shows up that Ford could be sued over.
MFT stopped at 3.10 when Sync 3 entered production in 2016 and there never was a newer update for MFT.
YepâŚit could be like the updates for the sync3 version in the earlier Fords which ceased at 3.0.20204 back in 2021 through the Ford update site.
3.4.23188 may possibly be the last update for sync3 but hopefully we will still be able to get Ford map updates through Cyanlabs.
There is not Sync 5. Google Automotive is being released in 2025 Explorers as we speak.
There will be updates to address bugs, new features in new vehicles still using Sync 3, which is the rest of the world, until Google Automotive is integrated into the Ford lineup.
Yes, thatâs what I meant by saying Sync 5. Sync 2 was running under Windows CE, Sync 3 and 4 - Blackberry, while Sync 5 - Android. Someone has already share some information here https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/sync-5-codename-phoenix-inside-look.31282/
Ford has an active link to an outside company to sell 5 years of map updates.
I would imagine that this may come down to if the files are on Fordâs public servers where anyone can access them (keeps this forum out of the whole software piracy conversation since Cyan technically just provides an interface to pull them) or if they go on a closed server.
With that I expect we might see a how to with maybe a checker to see if you have everything on the USB correctly and that the file hash is correct.
Hello everyone. Just entered here in this forum and found this thread and post from @enigma-gc.
Iâve tried all 3.4.x versions so far (from the original Ford download section and also using the Syn3 tool) and havenât had one single release where I had no gaps here and there. Unfortunately.
Tried various formatting options of so many different USB devices and also played around with music types like mp3, aac, flac, wav.
No luck since back then but somehow I got used to this situation and now I call it the âcharacterâ of my carâŚ
Download an appropriate interrogator tool and create your own post with the results, things can only be fixed with feedback. P.S. there is only ONE way to format a drive which the syn3 updater takes care of, make sure to use a named brand USB stick.
Reports are from Ford forums that 3.4.23188 will be the last software update for sync3 as the new Ford Escapes and other Fords now have sync4 which sync3 versions cannot obviously update to unless it is possible to change hardware.
Apparently though there are still a couple of bugs with 3.4.23188 which, hopefully, Ford will address as mentioned earlier by @F150Chief.
Similar happened with the earlier Fords with sync3 when their last update up until around 2018/2019 was 3.0.20204 in 2021 unless they updated further with Cyanlabs to 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 whatever.
Map updates will still be available of course.
Rumors are just what they are.
Ford released 3.0.23219 for the 3.0.x platforms (eg the Escape) a few weeks ago and that was basically a feature leveling with 3.4.23188.
Personally, Iâd expect the Sync3 version to follow a normal software development path and that while itâs not reached EOS, that any future releases will be security or critical fix items only.
If someone has the subscription download for the NA2.23 maps that just got released the autoinstall now calls for 3.4.23188, last years called for 3.2.x if you have a 2020 & the one for 3.0.x calls for 3.0.23219.
Thanks, I didnât know that 3.0.23219 was released to supercede 3.0.20204 for the earlier Fords.
Lost touch with 3.0 versions since I went down the Cyanlabs track with my 2017 model.
The NAV/NA package levels the voices and Grace Notes (.1139) with 3.4.23188 and it appears that it has the same BT and other odds and ends leveled to that version.
The non-EU/non-NAV package levels the voices, keeps the Grace Notes (.1130) at the same version and updates the app.

2016 F-150 successfully upgraded to 3.4.23188! Minor issue is that when using an iPhone for audio (not CarPlay) the music switches to the phone when the vehicle shuts off instead of pausing. Master reset was performed with the same result. In my case I fixed the issue by replacing the USB hub and started using CarPlay.
Hi, Today I installed 3.4.23188 to my 2019 Transit Custom Limited (UK) which was previously on 3.0.23219 with maps: F7
I prepared everything to USB and selected to use the Map Version: EU - 2024-06-10 - 1717992796
The upgrade went ahead and completed in around 20mins. A full reset was followed and then powered all up.
On checking about, it was confirmed that version 3.4.23188 had installed, BUT maps are showing as F12, which I believe are 2022 maps, rather than the ones I selected.
Any ideas why?
2016 models had limited if any Car Play compatibility, thatâs why if you look at the replacement media hub part number on some of the parts sites (like fordpartsgiant.com) it shows the part as a ânot to be used for warranty replacementâ on the 2016s
This is not an issue with 3.4.23188 and does not belong in this thread. Please start a new thread with this issue.
