Sync 3.4 on Ford Explorer 2013, no rear camera, needs to press power button to turn on APIM and climate not working

Hi, i just swapped a Sync 2 APIM to a SYNC 3.4 unit, working well, but the rear camera is not working, and the APIM doesn’t start when the car starts, i need to press the power button.
1 week after, the car just got discharged. Even the clock doesn’t run when turned off.

I uploaded the As-Built from OBD2 extracted from Ford Motorcraft website.

First problem, you can’t use the factory AB for a vehicle that came with MFT/Sync2 on a Sync3 vehicle.

Your best starting point would be using the AB from a 2017 Explorer with the same options as yours since that year was the first year the Explorer got Sync3.

Hi, I’m still trying to understand the As-Built thing, I’m new on this.

I tried using the non As-Built version, and trying to making adjustents by searching on Internet, but nothing.

I don’t understand well where to put and correct which line of code to change, etc.

I understand that i can’t upload the entire Ford Explorer 2017 As-Built, or I’m wrong?

Sorry my ignorance, I’m new on this.

PS: Now i just saw that the screen remains on when i turn off the car or the APIM when i press the power button, and if i press it with the car turned off, the APIM starts.

Forscan will only load the AsBuilt for the module you’re working in, it doesnt have the ability to load every module at once.

So, the AsBuilt pulled as indicated above, in ForScan go to APIM, AsBuilt, Do Not Hit Load Factory. Pick load from file, select the AB you downloaded and select write all.

Ignore the block count mismatch warning if you’re loading into a K or Above series APIM.

Uploaded the new As-Built from a 2017 Explorer XLT.

Working better now. The reverse camera now is working, and the radio turns off when the car turns off, and no need to press the power button to turn on/off the APIM.

But Still climate does not work, and now voice commands and Seek button from the steering wheel isn’t working.

The clock also still not working.

And now due the new As-Built it has the functions of North America.

A 2013 Explorer is a CEGA 1.2 vehicle and a 2017 is a CEGA 1.3 vehicle. The AB from a 2017 will have mismatched settings so you will need to correct your AB to match the correct architecture to get the rest working correctly. The AB from an 11-15 Explorer will work better.

A 2011-2015 Explorer will have Sync2/MFT, not Sync3.

2016 Explorer also has Sync 2 while it was upgraded to CEGA 1.3

I tried using my original VIN, (2013 Explorer), but no rear camera, keeps with screen turned on when i turn off the car, etc.

Used an 2016 Explorer As-Built, still the same problem.

I tried used climate from the panel (not the screen), but in the screen does not show up the speed, temperature, etc. And seek and voice commands still not working.

Yup, you cannot just copy any AB from any Explorer and it will just all work. A 17 Flex that had CEGA 1.2 and came with SYNC 3 would be much closer fit than any Explorer.

Best way is to make the manual changes though.

Yeah, i tried also with a Flex (but a 2016 one) and it showed me Error on FORScan when i loaded it.

Thats because you probally used the AB from a different APIM calibration version that had the 08 and/or 09 bits in it.

I forgot you posted your AB. I will look at it but first what items are not working right now? Here is what I am running in my 2015 if you want to try these values…

Keep in mind I wired the Sony system and heated and cooled seats so this will have alot you may not have.

I don’t know, i don’t understand what the codes means. I know it’s the As-Built, but modifying it manually it’s all new and another language for me. I don’t understand what number/letter means for. That’s the problem that i have. I don’t know what to type/do, that’s why i just kept writing different As-Builts, it was the most easier thing for me.

But yes, my car does not have Sony system and heated seats.
