Is the voice from the kit supposed to come from the sync speakers?

If so maybe you need to turn up the sync volume at the same time the voice is supposed to be ‘talking’.

When you remove this from the vehicle does the map voice guidance work?
Or did you not install the map voice files?
Do you have CP or AA running and you are not getting voice guidance from those?
