I have a sync 3 apim I got from a buddies F150, I connected it to my vehicle and it showed no display (screen works as I’ve used it before with a different apim), FORScan first saw it on the MS Can line so I uploaded my asbuilt for my vehicle then did a rescan, it showed up on the HS Can line next but still no display, I believe the apim should be showing up on the HS3 Can line.
Can’t run anything, no dtcs either, I believe it’s the power board (got a new one on the way) but wondering why it’s not showing up on the hs3 line, but I’m guessing that and the screen not turning on are related
The main board is the one you are referring to, which also controls the networking and GPS. The smaller aux board is the Sync board, or memory board, which of course controls Sync, and separately from that, onboard navigation.
Just because it came from a 2018 vehicle does not exclude it from being MY20+. It could be a retrofit or a Ford Service Replacement, which very well could be MY20+. The only way to know is to look at the part number or service number that indicates the eMMC version.
I can try to check tomorrow, but all I know is the screen went dark on my buddy while he was driving so I gave my him old apim as my other vehicle was totalled, I do know the apim is a j series model which is one I have been looking for
Part number is on the back of the APIM, the side that connects to the screen. So you have to take the screen off to see it. Take a pic of the back of the APIM and post it here…
My vehicle is a 2013 fusion titanium, the apim came from a 2018 f150 and was working till it just shut off and didn’t turn back on, both my screen and the one from the f150 work and was determined the apim wasn’t working, I just find it weird that the module is only showing on the hs can instead of the hs3 line like it should, I even checked wiring diagrams and it should be prioritizing the hs3 line but it’s not. Almost like it’s dead. I do have a new power board coming in within the next 2 weeks so I’ll be posting an update after it shows up. Also my fusion had sync 2 and confirming with a ford tech who does these retrofits often the pinout is the same on both sync 2 and 3
On the configuration page in FORScan do you have the speed auto increase checked? This is profile specific so issues with the adapter or the setup may cause an issue like this…
Gonna be honest I’ve never had to touch any of the settings for the adapter, it’s just always worked even for programming calibration files. This same adapter setup and laptop have been used across 3 vehicles. Again I’m still thinking something is wrong with the power board as it stopped working in the original vehicle, didn’t power on in my 16 fusion which had a successful sync 3 retrofit, and my 13 fusion.
