Sync 3 update

Any help would be appreciated. I currently have a sync 3 unit. And recently tried to update it from 3.1 I believe it was on too newer with the oem ford files.

Problem is with 2 new usb’s formatted properly when connected to my car usb port reads this say there’s no update found on the usb drive.

What am I missing. And if possible how do I get off of the update screen. So I can use my radio or just get it successfully updated

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: OEM Replacement

Old SYNC Version: 3.0.25306

New SYNC Version: 3.4.20220

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?

Update Method: Official Ford

1st run the interrogator to see what you have.
If you’re trying to get to Sync 3.4 you want to be targeting version 3.4.23188.
You need to make sure you have nothing else plugged into the USB ports, as a test of the ports you can throw a few MP3s on a blank USB stick and then go into Audio and see if the USB shows under sources, if it does try to play them.

You can’t use a Ford published update release to go to Sync 3.2+ from Sync 3.0. If you want to stay with Sync 3.0, the latest version would be 3.0.20204. If you wish to go to the current Sync 3.4 version, 23188, you will need to use the Syn3 Updater. Follow the link and read the instructions. The Syn3 Updater is automated and will set up the USB for you. Please use a quality USB 3.0 or better USB thumb drive.

I tried to install 3.0.20204 with no luck again just says can’t regicide uodate on usb… at this point I just want my radio out of the updating mode

Post a photo of such screen

This is the screen when the usb is in. If not I unplug the usb goes to a blue ford loading screen

Ok, you are in the reformat phase, you need to complete the process.
It’s really hard to help people when they give wrong information.

Anyways, make sure there’s only the upgrade USB onnected to the car, not even an SD reader (for maps, possible). If that’s the only device connected, try another USB port.
If all that fails, provide the log for the USB you created and are trying to use for upgrading.

And this was not true then… Ford will not ever reformat your unit…

Hey I’ve tried both methods, ford and cyan. When I’m installing I’ve unplugged everything else besides accessories in the cigarette lighter. Any other ideas?

.

If that fails, is it possible to exit this mode and just go back to the regular sync system?

I’ve already answered that as well.

Are you even reading what I’m saying?. Is that hard for you to provide what’s requested?.
Why do I need to interrogate you for you to provide meaningful troubleshooting information?.

SaNdMaN is still waiting for the log. Until you get one there is no since in trying to troubleshoot this any further.

hey sorry i was using this site on my phone wasn’t sure if a couple of the replies went through last night. here’s 2 logs trying two different usbs

Thanks for the files, eureka.
The issue you are having is as simple as having configured syn3updater wrong, that’s why it’s not finding any packages, because you told syn3updater the unit was on 3.4, which is not right at the moment.

Redo everything, select any 3.0 as current version and the latest 3.4 as target.
That will create a reformat drive, that’s what the unit needs.

Awh okay I see, I reset the installer and will retry the update again.

That was it thanks ! Do you recommend a fresh factory reset after upgrading? Think I’ve seen that a few forums

Yes, a factory reset will help. I have never done one and been fine but it is a good idea to do one.
