Sync update issues

I did the update from Sync 3 to the latest version of Sync 3.4 and the screen does not show all of the text. It is a 4.2" screen. In addition, not all of the buttons work, such as clock set, settings and others. I cant get into settings to do the master reboot. I did the soft boot (hold power and next/forward. What else can I do?

[4/29/2026 11:09:26 AM] ALL FILES DOWNLOADED AND COPIED TO THE USB DRIVE SUCCESSFULLY!

Manually install the 4’’ version, which is NU5T-14G381-BB (Sync3 v3.4.22251).
Syn3updater does not work with 4’’ variants.

Thanks! Do I just put that file on the same USB with all the other files that I used mto do the update or do I need another formatted USB with just that file?

You can reuse the USB, just make sure files properly placed, like any other update USB. Files are processed as the autoinstall.lst file dictates.

Got it. Thanks for all your help.

Sorry to keep bothering you. I seem to be doing something wrong. Can you show me exactly what files need to be on the USB drive?

The tar.gz file in the SyncMyRide folder (like any other similar file) and the autoinstall.lst on the root, like any other install.

OK I think i tried this and it showed Cyanlabs detected instead of update in progress. I will double check and try it again. Thanks!

Looks like it worked but now I hear the radio but just black screen and power button and other buttons don’t work. I do a soft reboot with the power button and forward button and the Ford symbol comes up like it’s loading but then it just goes back to a black screen.

The unit is confused, it should eventually sort itself out.

If you do not have forscan and an adapter to force a module reset, you can try again with a few soft resets or even leaving the battery unplugged over night to force a cold boot.

I disconnected the battery and will see if that works. If not, I do have Forscan.

Thanks for your help.

If you have forscan and this does not work, try the module reset through Forscan… If that does not work either share the asbuilt for the APIM seen through forscan.

After several soft boots, it is working!!!

That’s good to hear, thank you for the feedback.
