Hello, I created the update package via Syn3 Updater in the USB drive from 3.2 v18275 to 3.4 v21098 without Nav. Everything goes well before I insert the USB drive to my car, when I start the car the system prompted MEM_ERR01 while update, so I thought maybe no enough space for upgrading. I run the APIM Interrogator Utility and it shows that there is almost 2.6G free space…

I also tried to upgrade to the 3.3 v19052, and the error code changed to MEM_ERR03, then I removed the Grace file and try again with 3.4 v21098 but still failed.

Please help me on this, thanks.

From the USB contents, it seems like it is trying to do an auto-install. If you ran the interrogator utility and it shows 2.6GB of free space, then that is NOT enough to install all the packages. The packages that are selected total around 3.2GB. I would suggest doing a reformat to avoid any space or installation issues.

You can force a reformat from within the app (you have apparently already overridden the install mode).

Thanks for the reply, but could you please guide me where I can find the option to change the install mode? it is in auto detect mode and I can’t change it.

Under the settings page there is an “install mode” option. Select reformat there. After that re-create the USB.

Note: You must also disable MY20 protection. This is fine since your vehicle came with 3.2 and is not MY20.

Thanks a lot, it solved the issue I mentioned above but another comes… it prompt “error in 4U5T-14G423-BC_1615425978000.TAR.GZ” and I guess the car don’t have enough space to contain such file, so I recreate the USB without the Gracenotes and re-flash again, finally it completed with no error.

I guess the car lack of Grace database after such updating method, is there any possible for me to install the Gracenotes file separately in the future?

If you didn’t install Gracenote during reformat you’ll likely have to install it via reformat once again as the partition for it doesn’t exist. You can however try the install via auto-install regardless.

There is a smaller Gracenote package that you can use, which I believe is 4U5T-14G423-EC. You can find the link to download it in the software database on this site.

Nope you can install it seperately if there is enough space, it shares a partition

I don’t understand why you are getting zn:String.AutoDetect , are you using some custom language file? is anyone else able to replicate that?

Read these tutorials. You can place Gracenotes on your unit by using a smaller voice file and GN file for China (CN).
