Truck won't initiate update

I had Sync 3.4 version 19274, and wanted to update to the absolute latest one in Syn3. So, I downgraded to 3.3.19052 . Successfully did that, but now whenever I create a new thumb drive using Syn3, to go to 3.4 version 23188, it will go through the whole process, and once I insert the drive into my truck, a PopUp appears telling me it looks like there is an Update and if I want to go ahead and proceed. If I remove the drive or if the truck turns off, then it needs to be redone. Once I select Confirm… nothing. I don’t see the Updating Software in the top of the screen, It doesn’t do anything. I left my truck running for 15 minutes and it never changed anything.

I did notice that when downgrading to 3.3, it gave me the GT theme automatically. Prior on 3.4 it was the standard default theme.

Also, if anyone is curious as to why I would want to upgrade to the newest one of 3.4 even if it may not change anything… I have this compulsion to update all my devices to the newest software.

If you were at .19274 why didn’t you just do a straight upgrade to .23188 instead of a downgrade ?
The GT theme was deprecated in 3.4.x, that’s why it showed when you downgraded to 3.3.x

Honestly didn’t know that was an option. I used the tutorial and it sort of gave me the impression HAD to downgrade first.

Eventually I sorted it out. I had to delete GraceNotes from 3.3. Then delete it from 3.4 and it upgraded finally. I always use Carplay so the lack of images isn’t a concern.

If you’re already on 3.4.x or 3.3.x and want to get to 3.4.23188 you would only have to downgrade off 3.4 if you’re doing a reformat to update the maps without buying a license.

You do have the option with the updater to to just install Gracenotes and or the Voices, you just deselect the app from the package.
