Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 2016 Ford Mondeo MK5 with SYNC 3 v3.0.19205 and factory navigation (which was working perfectly before I started updating).
I wanted to update it to SYNC 3 v3.4.26057 together with the latest maps.
While writing this post I realized something that might be important: I think my first USB drive was formatted as GPT instead of MBR. Could that have caused any of these issues?
Here is what happened step by step:
I prepared the first USB with reformat and the latest maps.
During the installation I got:
Error in 4U5T-14G422-BBM_1748464677000.TAR.GZ: SIGN_ERR02
From what I have read, this file is one of the navigation voice packages. I don’t actually need all navigation voices since I only use Polish.
After this error, SYNC got stuck on the red reformat screen. I performed a reset (Power + Seek Forward).
After rebooting it was stuck on the “Insert USB” reformat screen.
I created another USB, this time without the navigation voice files, and the installation completed successfully.
However, after that navigation stopped working completely.
Current symptoms:
Every time the car starts I get a message saying that Navigation is not functioning properly.
There is a yellow warning triangle on the Home screen.
In the SYNC “About” menu, the Navigation Version field is completely blank.
After that I also:
Installed Jailbreak and tried a few mods.
Decided to return to a clean installation because I didn’t like one of the mods.
Downgraded to SYNC 3.3.
Then performed another reformat to 3.4.26057.
Unfortunately, the navigation problem is still exactly the same.
My main questions are:
Should I now downgrade to 3.3 again and perform a complete 3.4.26057 reformat with maps, or…
Is it enough to install only the missing maps/navigation files using AutoInstall?
Since my Navigation Version is empty, does that indicate that the map database was never installed correctly?
Can I install only selected map packages and only the voice files I actually need, or is it recommended to install the complete package?
I don’t use the built-in navigation very often because I normally use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but I would still like to restore the factory navigation so everything works correctly.
I’ve attached three logs:

3.0 → 3.4 reformat with the latest maps, which failed with the SIGN_ERR02 error.

3.0 → 3.4 reformat without any navigation files (maps, voices, etc.), which completed successfully but left the navigation non-functional.

The package and log for the installation I was planning to perform next: installing only the latest maps on my current working SYNC 3.4.26057 using AutoInstall.
