After upgrading my USB hub to allow carplay (and noting carplay does not start when plugging in my device) I note that my 2016 Focus RS is still running the 1.0 version of SYNC 3. I’ve learned that I need to go to 2.2 thanks to researching on this site prior to upgrading via Ford to 3.4. I’ve found a couple threads on here with links to 2.2 downloads. I’ve added these to a USB however I’ve had no luck with the car recognizing the USB/starting the download. I’m finding the site a bit confusing but have tried about a half dozen times building a USB but no luck. I’ve formatted exFAT etc. I’m hoping for a “put these three files on a USB” type answer! Thanks and apologies for not being able to figure this out.

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
No error message, will not recognize USB/initiate update.
This is not necessarily true, you can go to 3.4 directly with the Syn3 Updater thru reformat using the AUTOMATIC method. Many people have done this without issue and no one has presented any proof to the contrary. The suspected issues people have is purchasing non-authentic USB hubs which are counterfeit and do not work properly with Sync. If you didn’t purchase the hub thru a Ford dealer/representative then it’s likely not authentic. Another issue that could possibly be a factor is the ‘fast charge’ feature used by newer phones. This can cause a current surge which will shut down the hub momentarily or in some cases ignition cycle. Ford hubs do not support fast charging, even though there are hubs on the aftermarket that advertise they do. This issue has already been identified in this forum. However, if you would feel better updating to 2.2 first, feel free.
Well, a very big thank you to CyanLabs and this community. I had no issues using the Syn3 Updater to update my version 1.15139 to 3.4. With the updated hub, CarPlay works great. Much appreciated!
