Good day all,
With Ford Kuga 2017 non nav sync3 oem 2.2 version i updated with cyanlabs to 3.4 to try new looking but i didn’t like at all , wanted to go back with ford official 3.0 23219 but this was not possible if you reformatted once, is this true ? My fault, i accept, didnt search and read carefully before. For pre MY20 unit can we reformat to 3.0 ?, why i want to do this becuse 3.0 version is released in 2023, ver. 3.3 released in 2019. Looking is the same but is there any performance difference in older units ? reformatting is good for old hardware or old is better with old software ? What is actual difference between latest 3.0 and 3.3 positive or negative ways for my hardware, i’m asking because want to know i screwed it up or did any good, thank you for your replies
SYNC Region: EU
Navigation Variant: Non Nav
Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20
Install Type: OEM
Old SYNC Version: 2.2
New SYNC Version: 3.3
Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
nothing
You’re stuck at 3.3 and above as you can’t reformat to drop down to 3.0.
If you like the look and feel of 3.0 just drop down to 3.3.19052, if you stay on 3.4 be aware that there are some compatibility issues with non-3.4 native non-nav APIMs after build 3.4.21265.
Already at 3.3 19052 version , downgraded via app by cyanlabs and lowest version that allowed.
Any plan near future support to downgrade lower versions ? or newer release builds like 3.0 23xxx
well noted and as i said before its my fault didnt read all details and not blaming nobody or forum app or etc. My radio is working good and have no issues at least for now.
Can you tell me finally for 2017 hardware is it better (for performance and bugs) to use new partition system like 3.3 or 3.4 or is it better to stay with old partition system that newest 3.0 23219
summary i just want to know did i do any good with upgrading or not , then can sleep calmly and finish
maybe this topic will help next user who wants to update their radio.
Actually in all truth, staying on 3.0.23219 keeps you in a Ford supported path and there isn’t a whole lot of difference between 3.4.23188 & 3.0.23219 other than a prettier interface.
The only real reason someone would have to go from 3.0.x to 3.4.x would be if they wanted to update the maps in a NAV APIM without paying Ford for that years map (and yes I know there are some countries where national law requires the map updates to be free).
That’s a personal question. I’m still using 3.0 because I do not use Sync3. I use Android Auto, so Sync3 is only there for about 10-15 seconds, then AA kicks in… Surely, I use the radio some of the times, but that’s about it… I do not care about upgrading Sync3, I own a Focus and 3.4 have issues with flickering screen… In my case “not broken, no fix needed” + “I do not care about Sync3” = “I run 3.0 and won’t ever upgrade to 3.4”.
Again, that’s personal… If you do not have any issues, why do you even care?..
If no issues are present, what’s your preocupation exactly?
If you do not have issues now you won’t have issues in the future… or at least, not because you upgraded…
Besides, you “can’t do anything”(*) to go back to 3.0, so sleep calmly at night… there’s no point to do otherwise…
But, that’s your call.
(*) other than swapping the module for an old 3.0 one…
