Updater doesn't update my version

I currently have SYNC 3, Software Version: 2.0 Build 16074 which was not in the drop down menu. I typed it in manually and after the download was complete I got this message. How do I resolve this problem to update to 3.4?

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: Pre MY20

Install Type: Retrofit

Old SYNC Version: 3.2.16074

New SYNC Version: 3.4.26057

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?

You cannot go directly to 3.4 from 3.0 as Ford does not support 3.4 being installed on your vehicle (think of this as being a PC running Win7 and you’re trying to install Win11).

The only option to get to 3.4 is to reformat the APIM and should you have issues with 3.4 you cannot revert to 3.0 without replacing the APIM with one that has 3.0 on it.

I had 2017 focus with 2.2 or so. 1st i downloaded update from Ford page and it updated it to 3.0 ( latest what ford gave)and then i went to 3.4 downloaded from cyanlabs.

I have the same message going from 3.42318 to 3.426057

Why are you trying to go to .26057?

There are no additional functions or new features in it.

Keep in mind that Ford still has that build as a dealer only install and Ford does not do regression testing on non Sync3.4 native models/years.

Thanks for that. if that is so why have it as an upgrade build on the site. don’t see any info on site

There are no new features and functions. There are some updates in the newest version. Mostly with Sirius stuff and a few other things.

Because Ford released it, with this logic why have any old build available either, archival purposes.

Also, the “Does not update current version” simply means that once you have updated, make sure you go back in the Syn3 Updater configuration and set your “new current version”

The updater has the builds Ford has out on their cloud (which is where the updater downloads from) and Ford doesn’t provide a change log or model/year/brand supported list for a build.

The highest Ford supported build for your VIN is always on owner.ford.com .

Right now for quite a few MY2020+ vehicles it shows .26057 as available, but the link provided actually still downloads .23188.

Using the updater to update the Sync version isn’t a Ford supported method, just like using ForScan to do anything isn’t supported by Ford.
