Which brings me back to could a chnage in the software really cause hardware issues? Sync says that I shouldnt have been running the version it had when I bought the car and that it wasnt factory equipped. But as far as I knew it was seeing as its a sync radio and just like any other factory nav ive seen. Plus being a fleet/rental (previous and only other owner besides myself) idk why it would’ve been changed to have the factory style when they could upcharge for a TomTom or just use rhe BT and run 3rd party maps
Your GPS is not working at all. Even if it could not see signals there would be some data in the menus. If you are still dealing with the EU APIM you should consider a replacement.
What he’s seeing there is the same thing I saw trying to make a EU APIM work with NA maps.
Nav enabled, the GPS showed no satellites, turn the NAV off and they lit up.
So what is your suggestion because it worked with NA maps before I messed with it. Ive tried using NA and EU “versions" still didnt work.
If you want factory NAV replace the APIM with a NA NAV APIM and load your vehicle factory AsBuilt into it and then change 7D0-01-02 x2xx xxxx xxxx.
If you want to kill the map button on the current unit, just change 7D0-01-02 x0xx xxxx xxxx.
The unit you have is a hacked APIM, messing with it “broke” the hack/map side load, putting the maps back into that APIM is going to be a bench activity with the proper rig which costs way more than a NA NAV APIM.
So im used to things being programmed. If I went per say to a junkyard and got a factory NA Apim would I then have to take it to ford to program it?
All you need is FORScan and a 2018 Taurus Sync 3 asbuilt to program it to your vehicle. You can do this yourself. Ford won’t likely do this for you.
