Issues after 3.4.22251

Hello, I recently updated my Sync 3 to version 22251 from 3.4.21265. Since then, I have experienced a variety of issues but most notably Sync returning to some factory settings every time the car starts (i.e., prompt asking for automatic updates, starts again in FM/AM, reset of language) I am in the US so it defaults to English which is fine, but I saw another post having these same problems. Problems after 3.4.22251 update

Just like the linked post , whenever I try to either downgrade or autoinstall to a lower 3.4 version, I get an error saying “VER_ERR08” Yes, I have performed a master reset. I appear to be stuck on this version.
The log attached is my attempt to go back to 3.3. Same result.

I guess I wanted to post an update. Based off some digging, this issue is also happening to those who got the OTA update. I am going to take it to Ford tomorrow as I am under warranty for about six more months. Hopefully something comes of it.

Most likely a corrupted OTA update.

You updated outside of the Ford update schedule for your VIN. Don’t be surprised if Ford charges you to fix it if they find out. Your warranty does not cover things you mess up.

I believe 22251 is approved for my car if I’m not mistaken. The ford sync website said I had an update from I was on 22200 or something like that. Now 22251 is appearing on the sync website.

Had to make an appointment, going saturday now. Will update. To my knowledge, my maps at NA 2 21 are officially released for my car and now I know for sure 22251 is as well. I’m hoping that is enough to not cause an issue with warranty.

Ok, just note that it’s a bit hard to follow your case since you have been posting in many places.
In my personal opinion, it’s best to just have a single point to interchange information.

About your issue, there’s something that confuses me: you say your APIM is pre MY20, but the car is under warranty.

So, do you know which APIM model the car has?.

I do not know the exact model number. I bought the car new but in August of 2020. So I have until August of this year under warranty. Still under 36,000 miles.

If you bought it in 2020 it must be MY20.
You can create an interrogator log and run it against the unit, that will tell us which APIM model it’s and which packages are installed.

Sorry, allow me to clarify. It is a 2019 Mustang, purchased in 2020. I have used the Syn3 updater multiple times without issue. I am 99.9% positive it is a not MY20

If by downgrade you mean Downgrade Mode Instructions - CyanLabs , then yes.
VER_ERR08 is never good. If you can’t autoinstall anything, you can’t reformat it either.

Hard to say.
Usually VER_ errors are related to HW issues or really broken installations.
I’m also assuming you can’t run an interrogator log now (since it also uses autoinstall), but it would be interesting to see what’s on the unit right now.

Gracenotes is missing, otherwise it looks fine as far as installed packages. I usually see 4.3 GB free even with Gracenotes installed. Seems there might be something else installed that is not reporting or a storage issue.
