Mem_Err01 when try ing to update to latest map version

Hi All this is my first Post here and also the first time I’m using Cyanlabs.

I currently have Sync 3.4 Build 21194 installed on my system when I wanted to upgrade my maps to a more resent version where current version is F10 I received the mem_err01 on my display
my interrogator logfile
Sync.xml (11,1 KB) after reading several topic on this subject it seems t be that there is not enough memory available.
What are the next steps that I need to take to be able to upgrade my maps correctly.

additional question if I update to the latest 3.4 build 22110 would that solve my mem_err01 error?
I have not performed a factory reset
my updater log is this

what are my next steps to take?

First of all, that log shows a gracenote removal USB, not an update one.
Also, the previous configuration states “nav no”, so if you have configured syn3updater like that, it will never try installing maps.

Do you have the actual upgrade USB you used?

About the APIM, you have 11GB of free space, should be enough for autoinstalling maps.
Since your unit is an L series it’s MY20, so keep MY20 protection active.

Updating your maps will take 1-2 hours, so plan it ahead.

Hi I’ve created the update USB through the official ford site, but that gave me the mem_err message then I created a different USB to do the gracenote removal and interrogator. I will give it another go with the current update version that I’d downloaded.

if my problem persists would upgrading to a newer version of sync solve my problem? or go through the pain and perform a master reset?

Why didn’t you say so before?, it’s not a trivial piece of information.

Post the autoinstall.lst contents of that file here. (assuming it’s Ford’s)

No

No, Master Reset does not gain storage for installations.

This is the content of the auto installer.lst

Based on that file, you are trying to install these files.

4U5T-14G422-BBF
4U5T-14G422-BCF

All these files are NAV_VOICE, no MAP.

But based on the xml file you provided you have these files already installed

What’s the source of the xml file you provided?
Ford’s USB or Syn3updater’s?

sync updater

Didn’t Ford’s create one?

not while I was trying to update with the version I’ve downloaded this morning

would selecting the next sync version + maps solve my issue or is that likely to go wrong as well?

At this point, you have 2 options:

A) Keep trying Ford’s, I think there were cases where they pushed updates “by parts”, which seems to be your case. But for that to work, Ford needs to know what’s on the unit, that’s why I asked if the previous USB produced an XML file to send to Ford.

B) Use syn3updater from now on. You can follow this tutorial to the letter " Tutorial: 2020 North America 2.20 Map Installation (Stand-Alone without Reformat) with Updated NAV_Voice 06/21/2021 ", you can also use Syn3updater to generate the USB. It’s a lengthy process, so plan ahead to avoid interrupting it or having the engine turned off in the middle of the process. The tutorial is for NA maps, but general principle is the same for EU. It will take 1.5 / 2 hours since autoinstall.lst will have multiple sections (reboots).

Again, since your unit is MY20, keep MY20 protection active in Syn3updater since you cannot reformat the unit.

I’ve already answered this question, the answer is and will be the same.

Small Question
In the Syn3updater I have not selected the usb drive
under new version I selected
Region : Europe
Version 3.4.21194
For Cardversion I have the following options
Keep existing cards
F11(2021) EU(05-2022)
F10(2020 EU(03-2021)
F09 which would be a downgrade
Please advise what card version I should select here.

F11, since you want to upgrade from F10 which you said you have.
Again, make sure MY20 protection is active, it should say “autoinstall” at the bottom left.
You could ignore APPS, VOICE and ENH_DAB packages since those are for Sync3, which you are not going to upgrade. I would try GN, MAPS, VOICE_NAV and LICENSE.

okay will do question is there a specific reason for downloading the files to your harddrive first instead of letting SYN3updater creating the USB for you?

Not sure what you mean, but Syn3updater can’t create something without the needed files.
Is like making a pizza without the ingredients.

Syn3updater will download the files to your local drive and validate they are ok.
If they do, it creates the USB and then validate the files on USB again.

makes sense was not aware that by not selecting the USB drive first that the files are downloaded and during the same process the USB drive would be created after all the files are downloaded and checked

That’s up to you, the tool gives you both options.
You can just download and validate the needed files for later use or have the tool create the USB for you.
A practical case use of the “download only” function is if for some reason you do not have an USB on you at the time, you can download the files beforehand to gain some time. Once you get an USB drive you repeat the process but Syn3updater won’t re-download the files, just validate them and then create the USB.

There’s another option that’s to download the files and generate the needed lst files into a folder for you to later copy them onto an USB.
This latest one is not really recommended because there’s no integrity check when you manually copy them onto the USB.

still trying to download the files but it’s now the 3rd time that the file 1U5T-14G421-BFJ_164401064000.TAR.GZ errors out with a failed to validate 3 times error any suggestions?

Assuming you have enough free space on the device, try setting a single download connection in syn3updater’s settings. If that also fails, can you try a different internet connection?.

all files have been downloaded correctly and are on the USB. Question is there any specific reason that you have to perform a master reset after the installation(just for my understanding)
