I have tried everything from 4 different usb sticks to pulling fuses to trying upgrade to 3.2 instead of 3.4 Have to leave battery charger connected because it just wont turn off. Display will go blank but usb port stays lit and the second you touch anything it lights up “installing update” and after a few seconds “insert usb stick”. The background changes from logo to Mustang and others. The only thing I KNOW i did wrong was in the tutorial I did not notice under the graphic saying to remove usb stick, to not remove it. Also, although there are two usb ports on console, one is totally fake!! I have to leave for work and stay in a hotel so dragging a battery charger along is out of the question. Don’t even care about upgrade anymore,

Provide the log file, there is no reason you are unable to do so.

Yes, provide the log.
From what you are telling us, you seem to be stuck in the reformat phase. Do you have any picture of the Mustang screen that’s displayed? Or the “insert USB” one?.
This should be recoverable as long as there are no hardware issues.
Again, please provide the log for the USB you are currently using.

Everything worked previously except Apple carplay. Would power iphone but never invoke cp although it was enabled in settngs. Pulled panel housing usb jacks as only one had power. Found only one usb cord and one port completely sealed off in the back, the one without power. CP would work in a friends identical truck and trim level.

Entire sequence after 3 hr full power down via fuses.
Starts again as soon as i open door.

Are you 100% sure there is not another USB connected? Or device (SD card, etc).

So you do not have any other port, under the arm rest maybe, or in the back seats…
I’m asking because you have done everything right, the USB is well created (reformat), the USB seems to me a quality branded one (and you also said you tried other USBs as well)…
It should work, as long as no other device is connected to Sync3…
If it does not work, either the USB port is bad or the APIM itself is bad…
About the sticker you mentioned, all the components have that sticker.
Also, you mentioned you had some issues with one of the ports not having power, which may be related. If the USB port is not healthy, maybe it’s interfering…

Back seats only have power. Ive never used them.There are no other ports. I bought this truck new and this is the 1st time Ive used the usb ports…trying to use car play. Phone is BT and is powered out of the 12v aux. I have no other devices to plug in…no gps, no anything.

This may be a dumb question, but have you tried the USB on all USB ports?

CP on 3.4 will not work with older hubs
