Sync 1 to Sync 3 upgrade problem

Ok, I tried both the other harnesses and same problem with both with the source select and no audio through calls or it will play the radio. I tried it with Android Auto and same with the calls. I’ve cleared all the DTC’s and have two with the APIM. U0159 - Lost communication with parking control module and U0184 - Lost communication with the radio. My truck did not come with parking assist that I’m aware of. No backup sensors. Radio seems to be functioning correctly, so unsure about the U0184 code. Also checked again while I had the ACM out and it only has one black CoAx, so no XM. I don’t know if this makes a difference or not, but my truck also has trailer backup assist.

My asbuilt for the APIM is exactly what @F150Chief gave me to upload. I’ve made no modifications to it.

Thanks for the info, I’ll take a look today. If you have TBA then you should have rear sensors for Park Assist. Are they not there?

With Forscan, go to the “main module + hidden and engineering mode” configuration and look for the “TouchScreen” option. Select Sync 3 or “8-inch screen” there. This tells the BCM that your Sync 1 is now Sync 3. For other models, this usually has to be done through the ACM via AsBuilt, but for models like mine, the BCM controls this setting.

I don’t think I do. Here is a picture of the back of my truck. Never had it warn me either when I’m too close to something.

Thank you! I’ll give that a try later when I get home. In regards to the U0184 code, I tried one of the other wiring harnesses to see if it was possibly a harness issue and had the same codes. I then plugged the old Sync 1 module and screen in to see if I had damaged the original wiring somehow and the codes went away.

No sensors. No PDC HMI…
Then change
7D0-01-01 2A2A 0406 0037
to
7D0-01-01 222A 0406 00xx
xx = checksum bits, let FORScan calculate and write those.
This turns off the PDC HMI which is probably the cause of the U0159 code.

TBA is already turned on…
7D0-02-02 xxxX xxxx xxxx
2=Hazard Spot Not Available, MyKey Not Available, TBA Available, RD On

That fixed the U0159 code. I think I figured out both the U0184 code and the source select stopping. Since I don’t have XM, when I would try to select it on the touchscreen, it would not activate and it finally came to me that it was stopping on FM just before going to XM, so I disabled it and source select works and code is gone.

I have looked and can’t find the hidden and engineering mode in Forscan.

There is none, just the way someone wrote it.

So I’m confused. How can I change this? I’ve read older versions of Forscan had this setting.

It’s another terminology for the asbuilt settings. In the BCM asbuilt page, there is an option on the page with a drop down menu.

I have looked multiple times and I don’t have a drop down box anywhere. I’m running ForScan v2.3.65 and have the free trial extended license.

It might be in the paid version. I can’t verify this tonight.

I appreciate all your help! I wouldn’t have been able to do this without your help. I don’t mind buying a license if that’s what it takes.

I wanted to verify that the Engineering Menu would be available. FORScan changed this and I honestly have not looked at it, didn’t really have a need.

Never mind trying to find the engineering menu, I think I deciphered the the settings.

Check your FCIM asbuilt for the following:
7A7-01-01 xxXX xxxx xxxx
In your OEM FCDIM asbuilt, it has ‘00’ entered there.
00=No Remote Display, APIM Not Present, ACCT Fixed, ATWU Not Supported, RAF Not Supported. PWMVBCBT VBC

Change the value to ‘60
60=Touchscreen Display, APIM Present, ACCT Fixed, ATWU Not Supported, RAF Not Supported. PWMVBCBT VBC

Post your FCIM asbuilt and I’ll take a look at it.

Also, look at the ACM, 727-01-01 Xxxx xxxx xxxx
In your OEM ACM asbuilt, it has ‘D’ entered there.
D=Int SDARS Disabled, APIM Gen1, EFP CAN based, APIM Available

Change the value to ‘9’.
9=Int SDARS Disabled, APIM Gen2, EFP CAN based, APIM Available

Post your ACM asbuilt and I’ll take a look at it.

Thank you so much! My calls now work properly and I am currently showing no codes. Here are my FCIM and ACM asbuilts.

For the FCIM, there are options enabled or settings not proper for your vehicle. Attached is a new FCIM asbuilt.

ACM looks fine.

Thank you again so much! Just out of curiosity, what did you have to change in the FCIM? I looked at an Excel form I found by a source called Livinitup and the values that were changed, I don’t have any information for. I’m just trying to learn so I better understand all this. And I seriously cannot thank you enough for helping me sort all this out.

I used your original asbuilt to look at the programming and compared that to that FCIM and 2015 thru 2017 FCIM asbuilts. There is no supported features so it’s best to zero those out. Let me know if it throws any codes.

I haven’t had a chance to check for any codes, but I plan to tonight. So far everything is working great with no issues.

I’ll let you know tonight if I have any codes.
