issue with traffic recognition not working after update

I had used Syn3 Updater for the first time in DEC 2020 for upgrading from Sync3 Version 3.0.19149 to Version 3.4 20282 including a reformat of the APIM. It worked fine!

Now, I want to update within Vers. 3.4 to Build 21.098 including F10 Maps. I wonder, why Syn3 Updater created the USB stick in “downgrade mode”?

The AUTOINSTALL.LST looks like this:

I am afraid, that this configuration will not perform what I intended. If I am wrong, could somebody please explain how to obtain this update? Thank you!
Best
Manfred

It’s all documented, and has been covered countless times in discord and the forums.
Here’s the link to the documentation: https://cyanlabs.net/docs/syn3updater/page/the-different-install-modes

Since your unit is not MY20, reformat is recommended: it’s cleaner and faster.
But, there’s a way of autoinstalling EU maps, without reformat. But be aware that this process takes “forever”.

This can be done because EU maps are not ESN locked, but the overall process is slow.
We have reports that it took 2-3 hours to update just the maps. More information here: 🔥🔥 2020 MAPS - EU (F10), NA (2.20) & ANZ (2.20) Maps added to Syn3 Updater 🔥🔥

Thank you Sandman for the quick advice!
Now, I understand the procedure(s).

You are welcome.

A clarification that may be lost within the previous referenced posts: Syn3Updater can generate an autoinstall for EU maps, but if you choose reformat, it will be quicker.

Hello, I updated today my Ford S-Max 2016 from Sync 3.0.20204 to 3.4.21098, log is uploaded, everything looks fine, it took 49 minutes with Europe Maps. I will need few days to check out everything, in case I find any bug I will post here. (P.S.: I was having issues to install the original maps update from the Ford websire, ´´PKG_ERR03´´ continuously, Sync 3.4 fixed it). Thanks to CyanLabs.

Found a small bit of info about the update on the Explorer Forum. “It’s a small update. No, it won’t fix TravelLink. I think there’s something in there for echo in phone calls and some other items.”

My ford puma 2020 has the same problem as version 3.4.21020, when playing music from usb the songs jump like when the needle of a vinyl record jumps, I have changed the usb, its format and the songs continue to skip, the usb It is not already if I use it in another car it is perfect, before updating to 21020 and 21098 I had the same pendrive in the car and it was perfect, I don’t know what to do with any solution?

it’s always been an issue so i doubt you didn’t have the issue on older versions tbh

my previous version was 3.4.19274 and I never had a problem playing from the pendrive, everything started when I went to 21020

i’m pretty sure you are the only one then, as this has been a issue since way before any sync 3.4 version

I’m in Spain, I don’t know if that will have something to do with it, because if I downgrade the 19274 version it works perfectly

I rarely had an issue with songs skipping on earlier versions of Sync 3.4, but I have noticed recently that there seems to be more of an issue on the later versions. 3.4.19274 seemed to be better than the more recent versions, but as CyanLab stated above, it’s always been there.

Trying to download the 3.4.21098 updates, but the system keeps saying connection lost on file 4UST-14G422-CCH_1615429127000.TAR.GZ after numerous attempts.

This has been reported many times by only a small portion of users and cannot be reproduced for troubleshooting. As the error says, the server (Ford’s) is closing the connection.

This is what you could do:

  • Keep trying until it succeeds
  • Try a different computer
  • Try a different network
  • Configure Syn3Updater to only use a single download connection instead of 8
  • Manually download the files via a browser and save them into the Syn3Updater download folder and re run the process: Syn3Updater will find the files locally and validate them without re-downloading and later create the USB drive. You can get the files list and download them here: Easily Update Your SYNC 3 Using Our Manual Method - CyanLabs

I have a 2021 Escape Plug-in Hybrid w/Sync 3 v3.4.21098 and I can confirm that the SiriusXM bug hit me this a.m. I started the drive with SiriusXM working, shut off the engine at a gas station while refueling, then SiriusXM audio was absent when I started the engine. I had this same issue w/the previous Sync update.

Sync 3.4.20351 is the last version with reliable SiriusXM/Travel Link. You could downgrade to that version if you like, but you need to turn off automatic updates and wifi on the vehicle to prevent it from just installing 3.4.21098 again on it’s own.
