The sync3 mustang GPS works backwards...

Hello everyone,
I hadn’t used the GPS included in Sync3, and I just noticed that it’s working backwards. The map scrolls in the wrong direction. I haven’t found a setting, so I think it might be due to incorrect programming in the APIM. Any ideas?

Is this a Sync 3 upgrade? Did the vehicle have Sync 2 or other originally?

Yes, there was a sync2 before, and I couldn’t find the x-y setting

Check to see if the Sync 3 APIM is mounted upside down…Yes, really. There are x, y, and z axis gyros in the unit which are programmable but are initially programmed to mount a particular way attached to the Sync 3 screen assembly. Hopefully it is attached to the screen…

It is possible it is programmed wrong for the x, y, and z axis gyros.

No, I don’t think so. The rest is working normally; all the directions are in the right direction.
When the GPS is working, the map scrolls in the opposite direction to the vehicle. I made a video, but apparently I can’t post it.

That would be exactly the result. All functions would work normally but the screen would be wrong.

Can you post the APIM asbuilt? Do you have FORScan?

The programming for the APIM x, y, and z axis looks normal. The Y axis angle is 17.5 degrees, normal for a Mustang. The other axis values are ‘0’, which is expected.

Unless the unit is not mounted properly, there might be an issue with the APIM itself. Other than that there is nothing I can think of that would cause this.

I noticed the symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen under the + -
I hadn’t seen it. There’s the single arrow, the north arrow, and the 3D arrow. Maybe that’s the problem…

Swap the brackets. In my 2015 Mustang the APIM connector is on the bottom and the guide pins for the bracket are toward the top.

Well, I tried, but it’s impossible to mount it any other way… I did a master reset and will try it again tomorrow, but I think there’s a problem with the APIM.

Well, I went back to look at some pictures and I may have been wrong about the bracket orientation but however it is mounted, the APIM connector is on the bottom.

Seems like an antenna issue or GPSM mounting issue. I would bet your using an after market antenna and not an OEM option? Where do you have said antenna mounted and did you disconnect the old GPSM module?
