trying to go from sync 3.0.17276 to sync 3.4.23188 to fix apple carplay issue but unsure if the update will brick my apim

I have a 2018 Fiesta ST-Line X Turbo and my Apple Carplay doesn’t work, the pop up to agree to the t&c’s appears and after agreeing nothing happens, android auto works tho, so I am trying to update my sync to solve the issue but am worried about bricking my apim/radio as after running the integrator tool my apim came back as being pre 2020 which sync warns can result in bricking. If anyone has had experience with this I’d appreciate any help.

If you scroll down you’ll see the link to get you to 2.2.17011 and the autoinstall for it.
That will get your CP working, once you get there you can go to the last release for your VIN on the Ford owners site.
None of the above will require reformatting or possibly bricking your APIM

so instead of going from 3.0.17276 to 3.4.23188 go backwards to the older version then to the latest version on the ford website? for my vin the last release is 3.0.23219.

The highest Ford supported version of Sync3 for your car is 3.0.23219, as your vehicle wasn’t meant to run 3.4.x, you may need to run 3.4.21265 to get things working.
Think of is this way your car has Win7 hardware in it and you’re trying to install Win11, somethings may or may not work.

Just got done updating the system and this solved my issue, thanks for the help.

Now that your issue is solved, you can try updating to the latest 3.0.x mentioned before to have a more current build and stay within Ford’s path. If something does not work, you can always go back to your current build.
