Help stuck in SYNC 3 reformat process huge jump from 1.0.15139 to latest

i recieved an error code while installing (not in reformat mode at this point) so i turned the car off fully ejected hard drive and turned car back on to this screen it just shows a shelby the mustang symbol and ford logo saying insert install files, natraully i plugged it back in it said it couldnt read the install files, Unfortunally for me this locks me out of music and backup camera all for just wanting carplay please help im willing to try anything, ive also tried the upgrade option as i am making the jump and it cannot be read

Also i’d like to add this is a nav and american spec car BUT i live in europe so if i could download those maps that would be so nice too

That’s the reformat phase. Do not use a harddisk, just get a proper good and decent USB pendrive like a Sandisk, regenerate the USB pendrive and try again.

The unit won’t be operative until you complete the installation.

We do not support changing regions, but you can read this guide → Current EU Maps Installation on US Imported Vehicles

After using sandisk instead im having crash does this mean i should use the Upgrade going from 1.0 to 2.2 and then to 3.4 and if so what is the full version of 2.2 so i can download them both and go to my car Also should i change the instal type for the second download as it is auto set to reformat

What does this even mean?.
Provide the log and an image of the error.

It will say Error in (file name) is the full file required it would take me several minutes to produce that again

I can wait, make sure to provide the log for the latest USB you used and capture the time and filename at which the error appears (I believe it’s a red screen). Are you sure the unit has NAV?.

No problem, but I’ve noticed something else.

You said the unit is NA, but you are trying to install all the EU maps.

That will never work, NA APIMs lack the required storage (32GB vs 64GB). We do not support changing regions as I said before, and surely you can’t install the full EU map pack.

Hello as i put the region to UCM and hit apply it negates to NA after leaving the page When my screen WAS working now its just a shelby it did have a nav app Also ill show the new log

Do that, because I believe you are creating an USB that won’t ever work.

Why is it not allowing region to populate? is it bc that version is only avaible for non nav units ?

Yes, you have a NA UNIT, so NA it must be at the moment to recover the unit. (NAV won’t work since you are in the EU, but it didn’t work before, you need to change regions for that, which is the guide I sent before).

so if i put nav value as no it wont damage or brick my apim? thats my concern i could care less about nav tbh

I would install maps either way, it’s what the APIM had before I guess. It won’t work, but it would be a clean install (if that makes sense).

One more thing I’ve noticed: your car is from 2016, you will need to upgrade the HUB in order for carplay to work. Take a look at this thread for what part number you need → Media Hub, CarPlay Compatible - 2015-2020 Ford/Lincoln - SYNC 3

I understand i need to upgrade eventually, i will be doing that very soon so for nav value yes my config US and new config US is that right i should clarify my car is US Spec
